Interest in Chi Omega at Uk

Hey all! I have recently considered joining a sorority at University of Kentucky. I have researched some of the national sorority sites on the net and have found I most like Chi Omega. I do not know any Chi O's at my school so I thought I would post here and see if I could get any information on recruitment or Chi O in general.
Thank You
Elle

Recruitment, Greek Life, and Chi Omega have been the oportunity of a lifetime. It has defniately made college AMAZING. And I think that all of the Chi Omega sisters on this board would agree that Chi Omega, has been one of the best decision ever made!

I'm so happy to hear that you're considering greek like and recruitment and you have looked into the national organizations and such. However, keep an open mind during your rush process. Select the house that is right for you. Researching the websites has given you an idea of the values and standards that each sorority stands for. And hopefully after meeting the sisters you will choose the house that is right for you, whether it be Chi Omega or not!

When does rush start at University of Kentucky. It's an awesome school, I visited an ex who I dated for a few years. He's an Alpha Tau Omega down there if you know any of them..keep us updated with recruitment!

Rush at the University of Kentucky is in the fall, the week before classes begin. I think you can register at any time for next fall's rush at the Greek affairs office in Patterson Office Tower, but I think some sororities are currently doing COB (continuous open bidding) so you may want to look into that as well. However, Chi Omega is likely not one of the groups doing COB, so if you are interested in possibly joining that sorority you will have to wait until formal rush. But like the above post said, keep an open mind and you might be surprised--I was a legacy to Chi Omega, in fact, and going into rush that's the sorority I thought I was going to join, but I obviously changed my mind! Good luck!

Congratulations on your interest in Chi Omega and joining the Greek Community.
I think you will find the University's Panhellenic Webpage useful (that's just my guess) as far as times of rush and more information on each sorority.
The Chi Omega National website is in fact a wonderful tool to understanding the main ideals of our sorority, but it is important to remember that each chapter is different and has it's own impact.

I for one would have never thought of myself as a "sorority girl" (I still don't). But the feeling I got from Chi Omega showed me that in fact I can belong to a sorority and still keep my morals and values. Chi Omega stresses the individual. For that reason, I chose to go Chi-O.

But that may not always be the case for different people. Some may be legacies for other chapters and feel at home (or not at home) there too. So really, when choosing a sorority, go through the recruitment process with an open mind. Perhaps make a list of things YOU feel are a must in a sorority. Then see which ones meet that criteria ONCE you meet them.

Best of luck! We'll all be rooting for you either way!
