Corporate Man, Blue Collar or THUG?
I have had a host of experiences with different men of different walks of life. I have had the thug (weed-smoking, kick it on the weekend, rap music bumping, etc.) I have had the blue collar (steel worker, union member, long hours, overtime on holidays,etc.). I have also had the corporate (secretary, palm pilot, busy, laptop carrying, etc.). I myself am a professional, corporate sistah. I am just wondering what is the preference for those other sisters out there. Each of the 3 has an upside and a downside. Corporate is too busy, but he has the money and the business savvy. Thug cannot come to the company Christmas Party and he is a police (social) risk. Yet, Thug admires you 100% as a professional woman. Blue Collar can be rough around the edges with slang, dirty nails, etc. However, he knows the value of work and is usually committed to his job and does not have time for excess. I know these are very general and stereotypes, but what is your preference?

ROFLMAO!!!
I have been there and done that with the thug. Not only could he not come to the company Christmas party, I could not let him meet my family. He was for sexual purposes only.
I would prefer a white collar man over a blue collar man simply because we would have more in common. Don't get upset fellas, I don't have anything against blue collar men and I have dated them. But they aren't always able to relate to me the way white collar men can.
One big downside to white collar men is that they are a rarity and they know it. They tend not to want monogamy since they are so in demand.

Couldn't mess with the thug! As far as white collar or blue collar -- it wouldn't matter as long as he loves, respects, and worships the ground that I walk on (and vice verse of course!).

My ex man was a thug, but he has since changed and moved his way on up to blue collar and folks seem to think he can quickly move to White collar ... Though we are apart now I have been there through all the transitions (7 years) and I believe I can deal with all of them, but I sure am liking what I see in the blue collar almost white collar MAN

Sisters Sisters Sisters,
Am I understanding that the most beautiful and intelligent ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated find it difficult meeting, for the sake of conversation, men as noble as Alpha men.

LOL. I am beautiful and intelligent, but not a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha. However, after a very long dry spell, I have in fact met a very noble Alpha man. He is a white collar man, but not the average white collar man. I don't think I will be interested in any thugs, blue collar men, or GDIs anytime soon.

My man is white-collar, with a thug/white/blue collar mentality and I am loving him to death. Frankly, any man who can feed me intellectually (and I have come across brothas from all walks that can do this), sexually (just my nature) and keep my interest, I'm down for... I think that, although it's definitely not the norm, there are some brothas out there who are holding it down on all walks of life.

Jazbri,
Are you offended by my post? I can't see why anyone would be. However, to answer the question that you deleted a GDI is: A general but objectionable term that some greeks use referring to non-greeks. So that would be someone like me.
I added that information to my previous post because I was speaking about an Alpha man that I am particularly impressed with, in the Alpha's forum. It was intended to be a compliment to the Alphas. I stated that he was not the average white collar man because at some point in his life he was a knucklehead/thug, but those days are over. He is white collar, but not a stuffed shirt.

Professor, not at all! I stated that I couldn't get involved with a thug. However, I feel that nobility transcends across economical lines...
Anyway, even though I looove my Alpha bruhs dearly (skeeeephiii!) --- as I've stated before in another forum, my hubby is the "smoothest, suavest," and most "debonair" man that I Kould have ever married.

MIDWESTDIVA,
I edited my original post because as I was submitting it, I was talking to my best friend, a distinguished lady of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, who informed me what a GDI is. I laughed uproariously and realized how doubly dumb I sounded. So, no, I'm not offended.
I salute all men and women who have crossed the burning sands. I've gained much respect due to my close exposure. My dad's a Nupe and my man is an Omega.

Point of Clarification. I love the men of Alpha Phi Alpha. However, I am not a AKA. It does not matter what organization you are down with. Us Black Women have a problem finding the Corporate Money, the Blue Collar Family Mentality and the Thug Love. Do ya feel me? I have had all walks. Its funny, because I have never seriously dated a Greek man. They have all become my best friends. I am not sure why. If I had to guess, it is because I could not trust any of them when they were out of my sight and with the frat brothers. If I had a choice, I would choose the Greek, Corporate Man that is a little Rough Around the Edges. Any Takers??? SMILE

Ms. AKA_Monet,
It is obvious to me that you don't live in the MD, DC area. There are plenty of single, handsome, no baggage brothers of A Phi A. If you're not too far, I suggest you come kick it with us for a weekend.
