Policy or Clause Question

First of all, i'm a Phi Sig and inquiring for a friend.

Do you guys have a policy, bylaw, etc. that states something along the lines of multiculturalism or diversity? The reason I'm asking is because I have a friend who is interested in joining a sorority at St Louis University(where DG has a chapter) but she doesn't think that she can get in because of color differences.

I just need something just to show her she's wrong. And that Panhellic sororities are open to all races. . .not just. . .well, you know.

Thanks.

As a quick answer, my chapter is known for its diversity. It is one of the aspects that makes us stand out among the crowd.

I do not know of any specific written statements on the issue. One of my other sisters out there probably has a better idea of what DG says.

Good luck to your friend!

I am one of many women in Delta Gamma that are of color. I also thought that it would be an issue, but no one has EVER said anything regarding it. This is part of our mission statement,"Our primary purpose is to foster high ideals of friendship, promote educational and cultural interests..." When I saw that I felt that I would be welcomed with open arms and it meant a lot to me that a "mainstream" (for sake of better terms) sorority included something about culture in their mission statement.

Hope that has helped!!!!!!

My chapter is also known on our campus for not looking "cookie cutter" - all of our girls are so beautiful and are from MANY different backgrounds and cultures. A HUGE thing we look for during recruitment is diversity, encourage your friend to go for it!! DG is accepting of all women who will represent the goals and values of the Fraternity.
