Angry Shopping Rant

Argh! I just came back from the mall and I am so irritated!

I get to the mall and I actually found a pretty decent parking spot (maybe that should have been a warning). I went into a bunch of stores and I swear to God I feel overweight because all the clothes look like they are made for anorexic fifteen year olds. Why don't people just paint the clothes on, it would be more effective. Then I try on a skirt and the fabric bunches up at my hips. NEWSFLASH Fashion Designers!!! WOMEN HAVE HIPS! And I don't even have wide hips so there should have been no reason for any bunching. Ohhhh! Did I mention my very favorite? ...The peasant blouses with the triangle stitching where your boobs are supposed to go. What moron thought this was a good idea?!? My chest is way to big to fit in the designated area so it always looks ill-fitting.

Apparently I shouldn't go shopping until I have the figure of an underdeveloped teen.

I hate those blouses that have a designated "breast area" because they NEVER fit my chest.

No surprise

This is why I tend to buy clothes made by women designers such as Linda Allard for Ellen Tracy and Dana Buchman, or male designers such as Ralph Lauren (even though his wife is a boy-build, IMO) and Oscar de la Renta.

Remember, even fashion at places like the Limited, Express, Banana Republic or any mass-maker takes inspiration from high fashion, where many of the designers' ideal women are boy-build, clothes-hangers.

actually express clothing fits very well... they have proportional hip and ass room in their pants, for instance i am waist size 4, ass size 5 or so, and i usually hav eto get to the 5 to have them big around the waist.. at express i can wear a 3 no problem (they run a little big).. same with abercrombie and old navy, they make you feel good about yourself cuz they run big

Haha, I hate it when I go to the mall and nothing fits. My favorite is the "empire waist" which on me always ends up being the "empire half boob smoosh." My theory is that the people designing those shirts you mention are jealous of those of us who can't fit into them. Okay, so that's probably not true but it makes me feel better for a second.

If you have a Marshall Field's near you, they usually have some good stuff -- I like Laundry a lot. I usually have good luck with JCrew and Banana Republic, too.
