Truth or...not?
The Mary Kay Lady who came to do a presentation at my sorority house last spring told us that if we don't wash our makeup off before we go to bed, our skin will age a year. (Or maybe it was two years...or five...what in the heck was it??? I can't remember!) That seems like an awful lot for one night of laziness. A lot of people were eating out of her hand, but I have my doubts...she was trying awfully hard to get us to buy some makeup remover. So anyway, what do you girls think, is she telling the truth or is it a load of old shite?

Is she the one who left her husband fraternity badge pinned to the flag on the moon?

Your chapter had a Mary Kay presentation too huh?
I think she was just trying to get you girls to buy her overpriced makeup remover. The lady who did the presentation at my chapter two years ago said that my skin was heavily sun-damaged [Hooooly Shiiiiit is it because I live in Hawaii?] and she tried for two hours to get me to buy her moisturizer.
There are other things we encounter every day that will rapidly age our skin...so I'd worry about that before I start worrying about leaving my makeup on at night.
Never did like Mary Kay. It makes me itch.

It was probably a ploy to get you to buythe makeup remover. I don't think the skin ages a year because you for got to remove your makeup for one night. I think you can hurt your skin, if you don't take care of it properly, like constantly sleeping in your makeup, using the wrong type for your skin, wearing too much, yadda, yadda, yadda, but this lady was dishing out a plateful of BS.

it can't be....if you fell asleep without washing your face, lets say 5-6 times every two months then at the conclusion of a year yuor face would have aged about 30 years. now, given the likelyhood that that does happen ( at least to me) my face, since i started wearing makeup regularly about 7 years ago, should have adged about 420 years. however, this can't be true because, although i have no idea what someone's face (who was 439 years old) looks like, i'm pretty sure that my skin does not look that old, esp since people think i look alot younger than i actually am. so yeah, i pretty much think she wasn't being honest with ya'll....at least that's my opinion.
plus, when the mary kay lady came to our chapter she was too busy talking about that hand stuff they sell to even mention the makeup remover.

When I went through modeling classes(my mom thought it would help my self esteem) they always warned us to wash our makeup off when we slept and even if it was only for a nap. I don't think because it aged skin, but because makeup messes with the pores. That is why when you wear makeup you rub foundation down not up because it gets in the pores. Then when you use face wash you wash your face upward(hand motion).

yes DeltAlum, it is the same lady. Which reminds me, I have to go forward that email she sent me before I have bad luck for 10 years.
You should wash off your makeup before you go to bed, for the reasons Lana stated, but to say every time you don't do it ages skin a year is asinine. Oh, and except for eye makeup remover to get off waterproof mascara, you don't need a separate makeup remover - just use your regular cleanser. If that doesn't take off your makeup (unless it's theatrical makeup) you have problems!!!

I would have asked her why I sould buy her makeup when it would age my face prematurely?
Some folks did a presentation in one of my classes over how most makeup is made... reconstituted animal fat (comes from boiled roadkill), bat guano, etc. I don't know why someone would ever put that on their face..

LOL, OMG!!!
I'm hoping and praying that my Asian features will come out as I age. My mom's 50 and she barely looks like older than 35.

That's what I thought pretty much, because if that lady was telling the truth then my sisters and I would look like a trio of old hags by now. I don't like going to bed with makeup on because it gives me spots, but I was just debating whether Ms. Mary Kay was stretching the truth a few miles or just making it up altogether...is that something they make each of their salespeople say?
Oh, and whoever enlightened us all as to the ingredients of makeup...thanks. I really didn't want to know that (ignorance is bliss, right?), but now that I do I have the urge to go scrub my face.
