ideas for informal recruitment

The DG chapter is currently planning a big spring recruitment. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas of what to do, what really works, makes a great impression, etc.

Siob--

We have had one event at USI that has been so great in getting new women, and that's karaoke! I know, it may sound cheesy, but the PNMs LOVE IT, and everyone has a great time. We're thinking of doing it for the upcoming spring informal recruitment. Now mind you, one of the women has a karaoke machine, but I bet you could rent one for pretty cheap. It really is a lot of fun though.

Also, and I know you're in Canada, and I have no clue if you all watch NFL, but a Superbowl party is always fun too!

Just some thoughts

HI ALL!!

Heather

Bowling, miniature golf, or another group sports event.

What kind of recruitment is it? COB, a "formalized" informal recruitment?

Thanks for the suggestions.

Heather we have NFL in Canada except most of us follow the CFL and the Grey Cup (the super bowl of the CFL) is this sunday. Of course a stanley cup party would be fun, but that's too late.

Karaoke is always fun.

Fire: it will be a formal informal recruitment.

I don't know if you are near an ice-skating rink, but something that is *really* fun, and a team sport is broomball.

I played it for the very first time earlier this semester for one of our recruitment activities and it is a great way to integrate the active members and PNM's for some fun.

I live in Canada - we are near a few ice rinks - but that is always a fun thing to do and has worked in the past.

HI PinkRoxy!
This Fall was the first time I ever played broomball, so I can let you know how we did it.

Broomball is basically like ice-hockey. You have 2 teams, 2 goalies and you have to hit the puck into the goal. From what I noticed the only thing different is that instead of using hockey sticks, we use sticks that have a little paddle on the end to move the ball. (All the ice rinks in the area provided these).

It was really fun... we played with only one rule : Do not get violent We basically just went onto the ice rink decided which way we wanted to try to hit the puck and went for it. It was a super fun time! We paired active members with prospective members to make it more fun I hope this helped! And best of luck with your recruitment!

You're welcome pink!

I think a cute informal recruitment activity could be something called the "Winter Olympics" or something like that. Pair the girls up together and have some fun with activities like the human wheelbarrow race, and things like that.

(I used to be a Resident Advisor, so coming up with programs was practically required )

I'm not sure how well the idea would go over with your chapter, but I think it could show PNM's your chapter is fun and doesn't mind getting a lil silly sometimes

as for your editing your signature, click the 'usercp' button at the top near the 'register' button. From there you can click 'edit profile' and on the next screen there should be an input box near where it says 'signature'. you can edit your signature from there if you need help adding / deleting items from your signature and you're not sure how, follow this link:
http://greekchat.com/gcforums/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode

and it should take you to a mini - tutorial. if you need any more help let me know
