James Bond and Daughter
Trivia question I was wondering about tonight after seeing the new flick...
Wasn't there a movie/book that mentioned that JB had a daughter?

In both the book and movie, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, James Bond was married to La Comtesse Teresa Draco di Vicenzo (better known as Tracy), who was the daughter of the Capu (boss of all bosses) of the Union Corse, or the Corsican mafia.
Shortly after the wedding, on their way to their honeymoon, Bond and Tracy were ambushed in a drive-by shooting by Ernst Stavro Blofeld, the head of SPECTRE (SPecial Executive for Counterintelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion). Tracy was killed in the firefight.
The pre-credits of the film For Your Eyes Only shows James Bond visiting the grave of his late wife.
In Fleming's book, You Only Live Twice, James Bond suffers from amnesia from a blow to the head after killing Blofeld and destroying his castle of death. He recuperates in a Japanese fishing village and takes up with his guide, Kissy Suzuki. As Bond slowly recovers and begins his long journey back to England it's hinted that Kissy is pregnant with Bond's child; if I remember correctly a short story by Raymond Benson (the current author of the James Bond series of books) further develops this little twist in 007's life. (It appeared a few years back in Playboy.)

DAD (as we James Bond fanatics tend to refer to the movie ) wasn't bad, but I still like the old Connery Bond films best. Pierce Brosnan does a pretty good job carrying 007's licence to kill into the 21st century.
Could do without Madge's title song, however - though it kinda grows on ya.

Although Casino Royale is not considered a part of the Eon Productions James Bond series. Ian Fleming sold the film rights to CR to Gregory Ratoff, and on Ratoff's death, was sold to Charles K. Feldman. 'Cubby' Broccoli and Harry Saltzman obtained the film rights to the remaining James Bond novels.
Originally, they were to film Thunderball as the first James Bond movie, but at the time the rights to the title were held up in litigation between Fleming, Kevin McClory and Jack Whittingham. The case was settled out of court and Fleming was given the rights of the novel (adding a disclaimer that it was based on a screenplay by Fleming, McClory and Whittingham on future editions), but McClory won the film and TV rights. So, Dr. No became the first James Bond film.
Casino Royale was a spoof of the James Bond formula that was sweeping popular culture in the 1960s. Five directors, five different James Bonds and a cowboys-vs-indians fight as the climax of the movie. Great fun, but not to be taken seriously!
When Thunderball was finally made, McClory was given production credit, and agreed with Eon to not make any competing James Bond films for ten years. When that agreement expired in 1975, McClory began work on his competing project, which later became Never Say Never Again. NSNA is nothing more than an updated version of Thunderball.

i liked it, which is a feat in itself b/c i don't typically enjoy "action" films. i also have anxiety issues when i watch suspenseful movies like that, and knowing that James Bond was NOT going to die made the whole experience ALOT more enjoyable
