Fundraiser for Injured West Georgia KD

I didn't see anything posted on the GC KD site, but I wanted to post this so that everyone can see it. It just takes a second for our life to be dramatically changed. I truly hope that West Georgia Alpha Gams attend this fundraiser! I know that they sent a card of support to the Kappa Delta Chapter.

Posted from State University of West Georgia's website..

When State University of West Georgia student Kristy Justus went up for a pass during a flag football game on campus last November, no one could have predicted the outcome. In what could only be described as a freak accident, Justus remains paralyzed after the collision with an opposing player.
In an effort to raise funds to assist the Justus family with expenses, a breakfast will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, between 8 and 10 a.m. at the lower level of the Food Service Building on campus. Tickets for the full breakfast are $5 and will be available at the door.

According to Heather Mack, UWG advisor to Greek organizations, all of the governing bodies of the campus Greek system are sponsoring the fundraiser. IFC, governing body for fraternities; Panhellenic Council, governing body for sororities; and Pan-Hellenic Council, governing body for African American fraternities and sororities, are united in supporting Justus.

“ARA, the food provider for campus, has given us a great price on the meal so we can send as much profit to the Justus family as possible,” Mack noted.

Family expenses in these situations will exceed what is covered by insurance because of lodging and food costs while Justus is hospitalized, lost wages from time off work, renovations to make her home accessible, etc. Justus, currently a quadriplegic, remains at Shepard Spinal Clinic in Atlanta.

For those wishing to make a contribution but are unable to attend the breakfast, donations may be sent to the Student Activities Office or directly to the Kristy Justus Trust Fund, Decatur First Bank, 1120 Commerce Drive, Decatur, GA 30030.
For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, contact the Office of Student Activities at 770-836-6526.
