EBAY question
Have any of you ever bought sorority/fraternity shirts from EBAY? I made a couple of Greek Lettered shirts for people but then they decided at the last minute that they didn't want it or they didn't have the money. Is EBAY a good idea?

I've bought some, but I've also sent some back, due to the poor quality. If I wear a shirt once and then the letteres start to come off, that's not good.

I've found that greek stuff sells pretty well on ebay.... mainly around rush time. So January might be a decent time to sell with deferred/spring rush starting!
I sell mainly greek stuff, although i'm in the process of branching out to selling victoria's secret stuff (yes, the boy is quite happy about this.... lots of lingerie around the apt.).
Letters seem to do okay... some sororities generally sell better than others on ebay. I don't sell letters, just mainly other t-shirts and gift items.
Do your research and learn as much as you can about ebay, look through the sorority listings often to see what prices are going for, etc. If you'd like to "talk shop" feel free to PM me!

I guess I should have asked my question a little bit differently...
I know how people feel about selling membership badges/pins on EBAY so I was trying to see how people feel about selling Greek related clothing.

Have you done a search? I would do that before listing clothing. Everything does seem to sell better around recruitment from what I've noticed. Make sure you have a good picture -- that's key. I have noticed that it depends what you're selling, too, though. I've never seen something like a party/rush shirt go very high, but letter shirts in general will be more likely to go at a higher price, especially if they're nice.
Good luck!

You may want to post something on a few of your organization's websites. That may catch the attention of other girls that might want a shirt from another chapter. I know ebay is great sometimes, but other times it isn't because you have only SO LONG to sell the item...and if it's a t-shirt it sometimes may not be worth it.
I'd try signing some guestbooks and seeing if anyone is interested. It's a great time for parent's to be buying lettered shirt and maybe you'll give a discount to someone if they contacted you through a guestbook entry!?!?!?!

i've never bought any greek shirts from ebay, but from some of my searches there, they seem to sell pretty well!
i think it's totally different than selling badges.
Many chapters use ebay as a way to collect their GLO shirts from other chapters! And if you think about if say John Doe wanted a XYZ shirt, he could probably just as easily get one from ebay as getting one from a screen-printing place. I think when a member of the GLO gets a shirt with their colors/symbols/letters it means more to them because they actually might KNOW what the colors/symbols/letters stand for

Probably about half of my sales are to PARENTS who are buying shirts for their kids. Which I think is fabulous, sometimes I wonder if my parents even remember what sorority I'm in.
Most parents wouldn't necessarily know what online greek store to go to or anything like that, so they turn to ebay. I have one guy who's bought about 5 different shirts for his daughter.
I do view it as different that people selling pins, because shirts are A LOT easier to come buy, and as was pointed out, some people collect them.
A lot of people buy things on ebay for strange reasons or are willing to pay A LOT for something that we don't think that much of. A few months ago I had a long sleeve KD-Pikes shirt left over from our shamrock pageant, that I purchased for like 7 or 8 bucks, someone paid $26 for it- for a USED shirt.
I've never received any negative emails about me selling sorority items on ebay. Unlike pin sellers, who get harassed daily. So it doesn't seem like anyone really has anything against it.
So I think you should sell. Why let places like greek101 make a buttload of money on their overpriced lower quality goods?

i actually just bought a visor and a license plate off of ebay with my letters on it. i love them both. the badge thing is way more personal. i don't get sad when i see a tshirt for sale on ebay. we all get so many of them that i don't blame the people selling them. but with a badge it's different. badges are a whole other thread, but you all understand how it is.

ps - i'm actually dealing with someone selling a badge from my specific chapter on ebay right now. i'm not harassing him, i'm basically just asking nicely if he'd consider sending it back to nationals.
