Who do you think your Chapter's most sucessful Alum is?

We all talk about famous alumni we have in our General organization, and there are several threads devoted to such discussion. How about one concerning the people from your own chapter?

For my chapter, Alpha Tau of Beta Theta Pi, we have a couple:

Sports: Guy Chamberlain Nebraska 1915 Is in the College Football Hall of Fame. We have a bust of him and a certificate indicating his induction that are in our trophy case on our stairs.

Government: Former Nebraska US Senator David A. Karnes was a former chapter president of my house.

Business: 2 or 3 of the executives of Gallup (the polling people, also do a lot of consulting) are alumni brothers from my chapter house. We have an alumni rush event at one of their houses each summer, and they are such nice guys, and their houses are amazing!

My chapter is still fairly new [in my opinion], having only been on campus for 10 years.

Though we don't have anyone nationally known or famous, Dr. Doris Ching, a 1993 alumna initiate, is a wonderful role model for my chapter. She's the Vice President of Student Affairs at UHM and she's probably the highest ranking administrative female at the University.

The late John Galbreath, real estate mogul and owner of Kentucky Derby Winner Darby Dan was a Beta Chapter Delt. He was also part owner, with his brother Dan, of the Pittsburgh Pirates for many years.

Among other things, Brother Galbreath donated the non-denominational chapel on our campus in honor of his first wife. Many fraternity and sorority initiations are held there. It is the only building I'm aware of on campus with the name of a Greek Letter Organization on the official university name plaque.

Mu Tau chapter is less than a year old right now.. Our faculty advisor was initiated with us when we recieved our charter. He's now the Dean of the College of Arts, Media and Design at the University of Central Oklahoma.

Also Justin Earley is a TV News Reporter in Fayetville, Arkansas.

Dick's Drive In

So okay he wasn't involved in our chapter until now (Alpha Delta is now gone) but since he wants to be involved, he helps our chapter out a lot. Dick the CEO of Dick's Drve In's on the west coast. You know what Im talkin about (if not listen to sir mix alot posse on broadway). He gets us some good deals on burgers here in Seattle. Thats the first one I can think of. Change of subject, I just learned a couple days ago that our nationals has a private jet. Any other nationals have a jet. just throwing it out there.

A jet?

Inter/national organizations are non-profits that operate with minimal staff and pay most of them next to nothing.

Where did you hear that yours has a private jet?

I have pretty substantial knowledge of many GLO's and none that I know of has a jet.

Gamma-Nu Chapter tries to claim Bob Dole. Though Dole was initiated at the University of Kansas (Gamma-Omnicron), he went to Law School at Washburn, during which time he lived in our chapter house (Room 21).
