Question alpha zee or alpha zye??

hey. I had a question about the proper way to pronounce the greek letter xi. I am in a local org called alpha xi omicron, and we have always (since 1927) said "alpha zye", but recently we heard on a cal state campus the alpha xi deltas are referred to as the "alpha zees". I was woindering what the rules are with vowels and consonants and pronunciations of greek letters. Anyone who coudl helpe me out would be greatly appreciated!
thanks so much!

I know that when ever Natioanls has visitied our campus they have pronounced it Zee. So I guess if they do, that's the way it's supposed to be pronounced, at least for our organization.
