Last weekend, Beta Sigma had a weekend rush retreat. Brittney Wells (one of our favorites!) came down to help, too. On Saturday, we worked on rush stuff from 10 am to 1 am. (Well, the last couple hours we did sisterhood stuff, which was cool.) On Sunday we worked from 8 am to noon. We got so much accomplished! And rush isn't even until January!
I just thought I would post some of the chants/songs we're using because I think they're pretty cool.
"Always Sigma Kappa" (sung to the Coca-Cola jingle)
"The pearls will always shine, the doves will always sing.
As long as we are sisters, it's always the real thing.
Sigma Kappa, we're number one.
So come join Sigma K, and we'll have some real fun.
Do do do do, always Sigma Kappa.
Do do do do, it's always the real thing!"
^ That one is really perfect and we've used it for years because at Purdue, our rush days have different names than most universities. (People joke that there's the "Purdue world" and then "the rest of the world" regarding rush terms.) We have a round that we call Cokes, because the PNMs drink pop at this event, and it's typically Coca-Cola. So that's the day we sing this song as the PNMs are leaving.
Then my chapter wrote our own chant to use during Round One. We based it off a cheer from Bring It On! which is a big favorite in my house. There is also clapping and stomping throughout the whole chant. It goes:
I said, Oooh! Ahh! It's hot in here!
There must be some Sigma Kappas near.
We're number one, the best sorority.
So come be a Sigma and you'll see!
^ We do that one until every PNM is greeted and brought into the house.
We are doing a lot more and also some really cute songs for our skit. I didn't wanna post them all though, just in case there are other Purdue sorority members on GC that might wander into our forum. If you'd like to hear the other lyrics, PM me!
I'd love to hear what you guys think! I'm really excited about rush, especially since it will be my first time doing it from the other side.
