Question DST & ZTA - Battle of the Party Walks

Hi ladies! My name is Dianne and I am a member of Zeta Tau Alpha at the College of Charleston. In an effort to get the traditionally Caucasian and traditionally BGLOs together, AKA is sponsoring a Battle of the Party Walks. I am kinda in charge of my girls for this, and we have been paired with your wonderful sorors in Delta Sigma Theta (who are so awesome here, by the way). Anyhow, we are going to make a t-shirt for us to wear at the event and I am trying to come up with ideas. I am trying to incorporate Zeta symbols (crowns and strawberries) and Delta symbols together. So the only thing is, what are some Delta symbols? I know your colors are red and white. I think there's something about violets??? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
Greek Love,
Dianne

Dianne,

The symbol usually associated with DST is an elephant with an upheld trunk.

Good luck! I know that one of our GA chapters won a stepping contest a couple of years back on their campus. The chapter performed the routine at Georgia's ZTA Day and it was awesome!

Smile Fun!!

That really sounds like fun. I'd love to see that contest on our campus! Maybe I will suggest that.

PenguinTrax, I believe that ZTA chapter was from Valdosta State, and they stepped at a Georgia State stepshow (that's where I go to school). I didn't go to the show, but people were definitely buzzing about their performance.

I did see a handsign for ZTA once, they kind of linked their hands together and spread out their fingers, so it looked like a crown. Here's the link so you can see it. The chapter is at Augusta State here in Georgia.

ZTA Handsign

Hope this will help you! Good luck!!

Yeah, we do that hand symbol at our chapter, too. But one of the rules for the Battle of the Party Walks is that we cannot throw up any of our hand signs because not all of the GLOs involved have hand signs.

But thanks for the info! I let you know how it goes.

Thumbs up Battle of the Party Walks conclusion

Last night was the Battle of the Party Walks at College of Charleston (which was hosted by AKA), and the Zeta Tau Alpha/Delta Sigma Theta team WON FIRST PLACE!! (BTW, the other teams were Phi Mu-Zeta Phi Beta and Kappa Alpha Theta-Sigma Gamma Rho, then 3 fraternity teams). It was so much fun! The music on one of our songs screwed up, but we pulled it off. And on DJ's choice, we got the hardest song of all, but we looked great! AND, we were the only ones to have team t-shirts made for the event. The shirts were so cute. They had a little dancing elephant and ladybug (my ZTA chapter's mascot) on the front and said "Walk Proudly" on the back. We said that even if we didn't win, we were the hottest-looking girls out there! I just wanted to let all you Deltas know that sorors at CofC are awesome! So much fun, so nice, and they were out in full force last night to support our team!
