Not another teen movie

I have seen the movie several times and know most of the movies that they spoof.

With the exception of one.

What movie are they spoofing when you see the lead guy "Jake" on the swing (I think) on the beach. Right before the musical number.

It looks so distinctive that I'm sure it's taken from a movie that I must not hav seen because I don't get it.

Thanks.

I haven't seen Not Another Teen Movie... but I do remember a swing scene in "Can't Hardly Wait." And I've seen that movie a bazillion times. Is it anything like that? (Sitting in the dark on a swing during the party?)

No, the scene is during the day where Jake is looking out to the ocean and then they start the musical number with the girl sewing her dress (Pretty in Pink) everyone dancing (all teen aged musicals) and comments like everyone who goes to the school is a professional dancer.

How it's filmed almost looks like it's spoofing a teen movie from the 50s or something. It's driving me crazy! I wish they would come out with a pop up video like edition so you know exactly what movies they are stealing from.

I'm sure if you looked you could find a list on the net (if someone finds it, post a link, I couldn't find one)...plus there is a Pop-up version on the DVD

Being Molly Ringwald has basically stayed away from the limelight after all these years, I found it odd that she'd make a cameo in this one.

The swing scene reminded me of Grease when Danny is sitting on the swing singing about Sandy.

Agreed - I just got done watching Not Another Teen Movie on TBS, and they're showing it again tomorrow night. I would've figured the tune would've been more similar to the song in Grease, but that's the only swingset scene I can think of in a "teen" movie.

There's the one in "10 Things I Hate About You" as well, but I don't think that's what they're parodying here.
