One more question

I think I may have an issue with our greek advisor and im not sure what to do about it. See the issue is, is that a new chapter has come onto our campus and this happens to be the same chapter that our greek advisor belonged to at a different school. It seems that she just lets them slide by all the rules of panhel basically. Starting with last semster when they had first became a colony they were allowed to participate in greek week then during rush this year they were not able to participate in rush because they were a colony and had there own "special type of recruitment but they were allowed to come to our bid day. Now i dont want everyone to get me wrong this is not about the chapter this about the greek advisor. This colony is walking around saying that there participating in formal rush next semster but have not been voted nor even brought up to panhel and I know cause i go every week. Its not just these few incidents its a bunch more then that but what am I supposed to do because its just not fair that we have to follow rules and this new colony doesnt. Someone please tell me what should be done?

I really don't know what to tell you but on my campus we have a problem very similar. The greek advisor for all the soroities and fraternities was a member of a soroity that is on our campus. Now this GLO was in big trouble for some reason and they were not allowed to have formals and such. But they still get all these special pervilages. Which I don't get. An example is they are building new greek houses and our house was supposed to be the next built but this sorority is getting theirs built before us. After bring it up to the school they decided that they will build them at the same time. Last year we switched Presidents so housing has been put on hold. I see why you are stressed....

Honestly, to me, the stuff you said doesn't seem like that big a deal. Why shouldn't a colony be able to participate in Greek Week, or celebrate bid day with the other chapters, unless your campus Panhel has rules that specifically forbid it?

If they've already colonized, they already have your school's approval. Panhel doesn't have to vote on them again. As soon as they get their charter (and the only one with a say in that is their nationals), they will be a full voting member of Panhel, and they will participate in formal rush. And if they colonized last semester, I would very much expect them to get that charter soon.

Bring it up to your exec board. Exec board can review it, then present it to your panhel representatives if they think it needs to go to panhel. Then the reps can bring it up at a meeting.

liob, and good luck!
