Rudeness

Yesterday I participated in a program at school where college students are paired with 8th graders. Everyone was divided into four groups and then had a buddy. We all had stars on our name tags. Before the 8th graders came to campus a certain sorority had a lot of members participating , but they didn't like the fact that they were not all in teh same group so they went around asking to change colors so they could all be together. While we waited for stuff to begin this sorority just hung out together. 2 women in front of me were making comments about them being cliquish and i said I iknow, god forbid we come here to meet new people. I think this sorority had a poor taste in judgement. Also the girls in front of me are Delta Sigs so they were't GDI's making comments.
So anyway i think Greeks should do a better job of not being so cliquish bc in the real world your sorority sisters/brothers aren't all going to work for/with you or live near you. It's fine to want to hang out with them, but it shouldn't prevent you from meeting other people.
My 2 cents for the day.

I agree totally with you. the idea looks like it was supposed to be Greek unity for a good cause, not social hour!!! This kind of elitist, cliquey attitude is what turns non Greeks off to Greek life in the first place. It sounds like a great activity you all were doing and these girls missed the whole point!

I think probably anyone participating in an activity where alot of thier friends were participating would probably want to be paired together, forget the fact that they are sorority sisters. Meeting new people can be fun, hanging out with your friends will always be.

GIRLS that are Delta Sigs? Which sorority is that?

Going back to the original point, I agree. We try not to just associate with ourselves, we're now trying to have better standing relationships with the other Greeks.

around here 3 of the 4 sororities get along really well on campus.. the 4th we just don't know, we don't have anything against them. because greek life is pretty small we all have to stick together

The Delat Sigma Theta(I hope this is correct) is an NPHC sorority.
The event wasn't just for Greeks, but nongreeks as well.
I understand wanting to be with your friends, but there were at least 20 girls from this chapter all trying to be in the same group.
I can understand wanting to be with one person you know bc of the comfort factor, but you don't need your whole house to be together.

We're not referred to as "DeltaSigs." Please use "Deltas" or "DSTs"

I thought it was DST. Yeah, Delta Sigma Phi are Delta Sigs, Delta Sigma Theta is DST or Deltas, and Delta Sigma Pi are DeltaSigs (one word)

Sorry! Someone called them the Delta Sigs so that's what I thought they were.

What Ever!

It is a total shame that they did not feel that they were doing it not only for the kids, but to have a better interaction with ohter groups!

Shame on them!
