For all you alumnae out there...

OK so I was wondering...

How often and where do you actually wear your badge?

I'm gettin' all bummed cause I wanna wear it, but I never get to anymore. I can't really wear it to the office.....So where and when do you all get to wear yours?

Wearing my badge

Well...in addition to the obvious days...Founder's Day, NPC Badge Day and the anniversary of my initiation (18 Oct), I wear it when I want to dress up , start conversation, chapter meetings. I wore it recently to the funeral of my neighbor (who was a Pi Phi) as we loved to talk about our sororities (she was 84 and I am 43)

I wear my letters pretty frequently still. I just love the conversations it starts.

When my oldest daughter was little, I had a "Future Phi Mu" Tshirt made for her. It was amazing how many collegians would stop and talk to her and then talk with me .

Do you wear it to work? I'd love to wear mine on Mondays (when we had our chapter meetings) but somehow I don't think it would be appropriate, is it?

Sure I wear it to work , when I am dressed appropriately, during presentations, meetings, trainings.

I wear it frequently on Sundays to church, too.

One of the nicest things about wearing my badge is I am always opening the conversation to Phi Mu....and finding out about potential members (collegiate or alumna initiate

Same with wearing my letters out in public when I can. The fun conversations I have had and the sisters I have met, make is worth the effort.

Hi! I have only been an alum for almost a year now but I still wear my badge and my letters frequently. Follow the same rules as in college: if you are dressed in "badge attire" then it is ok to wear your badge! I wear mine badge to church and when I am dressed up to go to important functions. In fact, I was actually looking into upgrading my badge! So I definitely dont see a problem with you wearing your badge to work!

just founders day and npc badge day, but i don't work at a job that it is appropriate. i am a prek teacher and although i do dress up quite often....i end up covered in paint or something. the other thing to remember when wearing your badge as an alum is that you shouldn't be around alcohol. now, i don't mean that you would be getting all dolled up and heading to the bar in your pin, but even if you were going to a nice business dinner or to a holiday party for your workplace and alcohol is present, you should not be wearing your badge.

I always heard that you can drink in your letters and badge, you just can't get sloshed in them. It's the whole "drinking responsibly" thing.

I have actually heard both sides: that if you are going to be drinking at all then do not wear your badge and the other side that if you are of age and having a drink (as in 1-2 drinks and not getting wasted) then wearing your badge is ok as long as you are responsible and again, not drinking to get drunk. I am not sure as to which is actually right but I would say that if you are going to a place where there is going to be a bit of drinking going on then probably the best thing to do is to not wear your badge.

Last time I wore my badge was hmmmm about a month ago for an older sisters 3D ceremony....

does anyone know if you have not graduated as of yet, but are considered an alum...if you can 3D????
I really REALLY want to have my 3D ceremony.... to feel more like an "official" alum

I don't see why not. If it's just you, you might be able to do it one night after CD or as a CD.

I loved 3D! I looked forward to it every year. Not to see the older girls go, but to see what would be said. Aw man, I'm gettin' schmoopy thinking about it. My little criiiiiiiied. I love 3D.

Allie is the coolest.

I wish I'd had 3D. I never had a little, though, and by the time I realized I wanted one all the girls from my pledge class had graduated. (There were seven of us, and we were all juniors. Every class after us was huge -- 23, then upwards of 30, if I remember right -- and younger.) So it wouldn't really be a real 3D anyway. Maybe one day when I have tons of alumna friends I'll have my own 3D. And we'll drink pink wine and I'll finally get to blow out candles.

I'm the coolest cause I made my Little sob? Some people would call that hazing. ;-) You're twisted Jac.

Uhm..pink wine and blowing out candles? OH! Blowing out candles! I had images of birthday cakes, and I was like "Dude, we didn't have that at OUR 3D....."

Pink wine. Now there's something we should add....

Yeah. The pink wine would be a specialty of my non-traditional non-sanctioned 3D ceremony.
