Big Sis Revealing

I was wondering how all of you guys did the revealing of big sisters.


Last year we had a pinata (in the shape of a turtle) filled with candy and each new member would be blindfolded and take a swing at it to see if she could break it...and each new member was assigned a specific kind of candy...like someone would have tootsie rolls and on each piece of candy would be a letter of their big sis's name....then they would gather up all their candy and spell out the name and greet their big! I think that was the best revealign we did...everyone had so much fun!

We were given hats that were made out of styrofoam cups with yarn attached to them so that we could tie them to our heads. Each cup was decorated by our big sister, and she made an identical one for herself which she wore. We had to look at our cup and remember its design because, once it was tied to our heads, we couldn't look at it again.

We were then given black trash bags that we wore like a poncho with our heads sticking out of a hole at the top. The bags were decorated with a "P" signifying "pledge" (this was back before it was un-PC to call new members "pledges). Our big sisters wore white trash bags with an "S" signifying "sister" on it. When you put us together, we were supposed to be Salt and Pepper Shakers with our hats being the spout!

After getting dressed, we pledges were sent on a scavenger hunt around the campsite (we did this on our annual retreat to a national park), and we found various clues from our big sisters that directed us from one spot to another. We finally ended up in the recreation cabin. Our big sisters were all lined up at the end of the room, and we had to find them based on the clues they had written for the scavenger hunt and the hats they had decorated.

It was so much fun!

My favorite was when each Little was given a pink or green balloon, and when she popped it, inside was her Big's name on a piece of paper. Simple and fun!

This year we (the big sisters) decorated our cars and lined them up in a semi-empty parking lot. We then went into the chapter room where we laid our key and our littles name on a chair. After our ceremony, the big sisters went out into the parking lot to wait. It was the cutest thing to see the new members running to the parking lot as fast as they could! Some girls, like myself, switched cars with other sisters to confuse our littles. The littles had to go from car to car, trying their key. Then they had a note and a pillow made by their big sisters in the car. My little was the last one to find "her" car...when she read my note she started screaming "It's Blaire! It's Blaire!! I'm so excited! I got Blaire!" It was really fun and touching, both at the same time! (plus I couldn't have asked for a better reaction!!!)
