Pi Phi Wedding Traditions
Fellow Pi Phi's,
Now I can't help but admit, but I am such a planner! I'm supposed to be getting married as soon as I graduate, but my Mom and I are already discussing some details. (See, I told you guys I'm a planner. I guess it runs in the family )
Anyway, I've seen this topic discussed on some of the other sorority threads, but I've always been curious if we had any traditions. I plan on wearing my pin somewhere, but what else could I do to show my Pi Phi love? I'd also like to do something for my sisters who'll be in the wedding party. Any ideas or shared experiences would be appreciated!
PPL,
Erin

Not like I'm engaged yet, but I've also always wondered about traditions beyond the candle pass. I had two sisters get married last year, one to a DU. We didn't know of any traditions, but our chapter has a special toast we say when we're out drinking. I was to give a toast to the bride and groom at the reception, so I began by saying the first two line of the toast. I then said the rest was to remain a secret and went on to the real toast.
I know Angels, Arrows and Admirations has a bunch of songs and such for different occasions. There's a few serenading songs that you could use. You could track down a bottle of TOTT's champage for the bridal party...definitely Pi Phi!
Can't wait to see other responses!

Where could one find a copy of Angels, Arrows, and Admirations? I've never heard of it before.

Erin

It should be in chapter archives...it's the ritual manual/big-ass wine coloured binder. It's a really interesting read, includes ritual for funerals, alum honour initiations, senior farewell ceremonies etc.
good luck!

Erin,
Angels, Arrows, and Admiration, I think that is the way the three A's are arranged...if they aren't in your archives, then your VP Moral should have a copy. It's a REALLY big binder that your VP Moral uses to get ideas and facts for the fraternity heritage modules every semester.
Luv,
Margaret

Wedding traditions vary by chapter-- there aren't specific ones that all Pi Phi chapters do, so I'll share what my chapter did.
** we had an old Pi Phi badge with diamonds that had been donated by an alum. It was the 'bride's pin" and was worn by members of the chapter on the wedding day (usually on their slip although i have seen some wearing it on their dress where you could see it)
**at the reception we would serenade the bride and groom starting with our sweetheart song (which is not in the Pi Phi songbooks that I've seen) and ending with a cheer. That usually got all the frat guys at the wedding up dancing!
