Don't drink and drive
Hey guys,
I used to think that it's ok if you drink and then drive just a short distance or if you go really slow. Somehow it became a standard over a year whenever we drank and I didn't even notice it.
Well last night I lost one friend (PIKE) to an accident and another (FIJI) is in serious condition in the hospital after just coming out of a comma. These were guys that had everything going for them...athletic, good looking, smart, charming, ready to graduate from one of the most demanding schools and have a great future. Well they drank, they drove, and their car wrapped a tree.
Our entire circle of friends is pretty shaken up about this now - specially since a couple kids decided not to get in the car with them to go get food. I hope you all realize it too before it's too late.

I;m really sorry! It's amazing how many people I know will drive after a few beers. I won't ride with people that are drinking.

I am so sorry Rudey for your loss, and for all the Pikes and FIJIs and family and friends who will be feeling this pain. There's not really anything else that can be said to make things better, but know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Gosh, I am so sorry to hear this. I am the one in my group of friends who always ends up being the DD and as much as I complain about it, it's stories like these that make me realize how important it is. I am so sorry you guys had to experience this first hand. I hope that it never happens to you again. You and your friends and their families are in my thoughts.

Rudey, I hope the pain will ease for you and your circle of friends in time. My Aunt's son was shot and killed in a gun accident on Halloween........by her other son. Now that she has grandchildren, it's been a real difficult ordeal for her when Halloween comes around. You have experiened such a tragedy at a young age. Maybe knowing what you do now, will keep a similar tragedy from occuring in the future. I send my prayers and deepest sympathy to you, your friends and the poor families.

In a way I know how it feels to have everything shaken up like that... I recently lost two friends in early October in a car accident (although it didn't involve alcohol). Another friend was in the back seat but survived (with bad injuries); they were obliterated by a semi tractor trailor... talk about graphic *sigh* It's tough to come back to the "real" world after trying to get through the grieving. Everybody in my circle of friends was hit by the tragedy (all members of Chi Omega and Phi Kappa Theta), and so for a week it was like our entire world stopped turning--yet we had to come back to the University after the many hours of traveling, visitations, and funerals... a place where to everyone else it was like nothing had happened at all, a very harsh realization... my advice is take it one day at a time and take care of yourself and your friends--you've still got each other.
