Punch Drunk Love/Adam Sandler
Has anyone heard about Adam Sandler's new movie, Punch Drunk Love? It opens nationwide next Friday and I am so excited!
I don't know much about it, it has sort of been kept under wraps but I hear that this is Adam's first real venture into the serious acting realm!

I'm really looking forward to this film!
I'm a dedicated fan of Paul Thomas Andersen, the writer/director.
Have you seen his other films? He directed Hard Eight, Boogie Nights and Magnolia all of which I love.
Apparently it got a huge reception in Cannes and in the Toronto Film Festival, which bodes well. The New York Film Festival has chosen it as the centerpiece of their festival.
It'll be so interesting to see where PTA can take Adam Sandler.

This is the first Adam Sandler movie that Ebert and Roeper/Siskel have ever liked, so it looks interesting.

I think it is because everyone is used to Adam Sandler being "stupid." Personally, this movie does not look appealing to me, only for the fact that Adam isn't being "stupid." I may see; I may not. If I don't see it, though, no big deal.

Andersen is a good director - Magnolia is one of my favorite movies period.
I'll see it for that - and the whole curiosity thing of seeing Sandler in a serious role - he's supposed to be excellent.

this is honestly the WORST movie i have EVER seen. from the first scene, which makes no sense, i was figeting (sp) in my seat. my best friend, who is a huge sandler fan and was dying to see it, asked me if i wanted to leave in the middle. we decided to stick it out though and barely made it. i think i smiled maybe once in the movie, didn't laugh at all. and neither did the other people in the theater. EVERYONE was saying that it was horrible when we walked out of the theater. i couldn't believe sandler would do a movie like this. how did it get 3.5 stars????????????????? it's not even a serious movie like people have been saying.
2 thumbs WAY down

I just got back from it...
I didn't think it was bad... just different. Sort of reminded me of Vanilla Sky or Eyes Wide Shut, although it wasn't as artistic or meaningful... or maybe it was, and I am just not smart enough to get it.
But, I did like it... they took a chance.

Yeah, I LOVED Vanilla Sky... despite the fact that stupid, ugly Tom Cruise is in it.
