all greek advisor question

I think I may have an issue with our greek advisor and im not sure what to do about it. See the issue is, is that a new chapter has come onto our campus and this happens to be the same chapter that our greek advisor belonged to at a different school. It seems that she just lets them slide by all the rules of panhel basically. Starting with last semster when they had first became a colony they were allowed to participate in greek week then during rush this year they were not able to participate in rush because they were a colony and had there own "special type of recruitment but they were allowed to come to our bid day. Now i dont want everyone to get me wrong this is not about the chapter this about the greek advisor. This colony is walking around saying that there participating in formal rush next semster but have not been voted nor even brought up to panhel and I know cause i go every week. Its not just these few incidents its a bunch more then that but what am I supposed to do because its just not fair that we have to follow rules and this new colony doesnt. Someone please tell me what should be done?

One more thing the way our fall rush works is , it is our informal rush. So only girls that are signed up can go to the sorority parties which means that we can except any girls that are not signed up for rush until after when we can cob up to total. So we only had a certain amount of girls go through rush. This new colony had there own rush to which no one had to sign up and so they were able to fill quota which this semster was anything up to total. Then they were allowed to come to our bid day. how is this fair if they are not in panhel yet

I am an advisor for my sorority and deal with the greek advisor on our campus lots of times. We have a fraternity colony that came about last winter and they participate in everything the campus chapters do. Such as formal recruitment and greekweekend. Everyone has welcomed this chapter with open arms... My campus loves a little bit of competion and you should too. Enjoy your new colony that came onto campus and have fun with them don't be against them because they are new. I would love a new sorority on our campus to have alittle more competition in rush...what's one more chapter?

Hooray

If you are getting all the girls you want, I hope the new group succeeds in every way possible. If they are not part of Panhel, they don't have to follow panhel rules.

If your chapter isn't getting as many girls as you want, I hope the new group takes so many girls that none are left for you and your anti-colony attitude.

If you go to panhel every week, why don't you just ask "what's going on, what are the rules?"

Dont you think thats a little rude. I am not against this chapter in any which way or form. I just think if we have to follow certain rules and this colony gets to do what they want and not have to follow the rules but are able to participate in pahel activites, ie rush. I just dont think that is fair for not just my chapter but every other chapter because we have rules to follow.

energizer -

are you saying that this group was allowed to become a colony, select members etc without panhel voting on expansion and giving them the OK to go forward? If it's a national sorority, I doubt they would do that - unless of course, this advisor is such a @#$%# she fudged the records to her own sorority.

If you have questions about how expansion is supposed to work, search under expansion and there are a few threads about new colonies.

hoosier, it's not an anti-colony attitude, it's an anti-greek advisor who is being a biased beeyotch attitude. Expansion is totally different for sororities than fraternities. If someone came in and started recruiting without going through the proper channels anyone would be pissed, whether they were the biggest group or the smallest.
