Should others know?

MY friend has just become a new member for our sorority. I think this is great, I just have one concern. She sometimes freaks out about stuff. Like when she gets really stressed out. Already once this semester it has happened. I am just wondering if she should make the president aware of this. I know that if she would tell our presidents, the pres. would be totally understanding and not make it a big issue. I am just thinking for in the future if something happens wouldn't it be better if someone knew what was going on.

I think it depends on how big of a freak out it is. I mean, if she freaks out and tries to hurt herself or others, YES, it is important to talk to someone and try to get her help.

But if it's more in the sense of she breaks down crying, or snaps at someone when she's stressed out or having a hard day, I think everyone does that.

I'd hesitate to say anything to your President about it unless you think her behaviour will somehow adversely impact the chapter.

Frankly, this is not an issue you should be discussing with your president. It seems to me that she might be struggling with some underlying mental health or personal issues and when she's stressed this is how she reacts. It's great that you are concerned about your sister, but I would suggest that you might discuss with her about going to see someone about her problems. I'm sure you have trained therapists of one sort or another on campus...if nothing else it might help her cope better with her stress levels. Talking to the president behind her back and about something you may not know too much about may seem to your friend like a violation of her trust. Please speak to your friend first about your concerns before you speak to anyone else about it.
