Angry HS football teabagging incident

okay, hopefully this will work, been having major issues with GC this afternoon.

Anyway, did any of y'all hear about this? High school football team at a prestigous all boys catholic high school in my city (Pittsburgh) hazing incident. Very interesting to hear the different news sources try to properly describe what teabagging is. Apparantly Howard Stern talked about it this morning.... this is disgusting.

teabaggers

Last year a basketball player from Duke went to a fraternity party at University of North Carolina . The party was a week before the ACC Tournament and he ended up passing out at the fraternity house. The members of the fraternity drew all over him with magic marker and teabagged him. They also took pics and emailed the pics to Mike Krzyzewski the Duke coach.

High school hazing is really coming to light in PA. There was just a case in my old high school with the soccer team.

This is the only report I found in the 2 local newspapers:

Six disciplined for hazing

Parents of six Red Lion Area High School students accused of hazing other members of the soccer team say their children are being punished for behavior that has long been acceptable in the school district.

The parents last week asked the school board to reconsider the students' dismissal from the team.

The six students were removed from the high school boys' soccer team and suspended from school for three days for hazing younger team members in an incident videotaped by another student. School officials declined to identify the six students.

Appearing at a school board meeting last week, parent Peggy McFarland said the accused students kicked balls at younger players who were backed up against a wall. No one was seriously hurt during the incident, superintendent Larry Macaluso said.

The incident followed complaints about hazing from parents who alerted the team's coaches Ben Smith and Sam Cooley, Macaluso said.

Smith and Cooley sent a letter home to the parents of all team members asking parents to discuss hazing, bullying and harassment with students so that they would understand that it was inappropriate and would be punished. Macaluso said the videotape of the incident was brought to the high school administration shortly after the letter was sent home.

The students were subsequently suspended for three days and dismissed from the team.

School board president Charles Hartman said the board would consider the parents' request.

I don't know if the school board overturned the decision.

From what I know teabagging isn't THAT uncommon. I'm surprised most of you have never heard about it.

I'd be pissed if it happened to me or in my chapter... But I do know it's surprisingly common.

Pittsburgh Trivia:

Dan Marino (former Dolphins and Pitt QB) is a 1979 Central Catholic graduate.

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread...

Oh my gosh, my hometown is the next town over from Red Lion (we're bigtime rivals) and I never heard about any of this stuff. But, considering how important sports are in my area, I can definitely believe that it happened

Ugh, that's very disgusting. The football team does deserve to be pulled from the playoffs. Only a few of the team members "participated" in the activity, but at least half of the team watched and didn't say a word.

Unhappy you guys make me sick

I hate to ruin all you fun b/c you guys seem to think this hilarious...

BUT do you realize that this is SEXUAL ASSAULT?????

That's a pretty major crime. And being that these sorts of things usually culminate in a picture being taken so that you can embarass the victim- so there's impossible to dispute proof.

Think about it- do you want to be a registered sex offender the rest of your life? My state now posts their pictures on the web, as well as informs neighbors when you move into a neighborhood, etc. Besides the fact of how many years you could easily do in jail. Sorry, but how the hell could you explain yourself out of this one? The justice system (not to mention the jury) aren't going to buy "oh, well, he fell asleep with his shoes on, so we HAD to"

And even if you ended up not criminally guilty, a civil suit could be on your ass so fast it would make your headspin.

Bottom line- this is sexual assault. So think about it. A "victim" of yours could just as easily go after you as this kid did. In this case, the perpetrators are minors, so they will probably get off. But none of you are.

You should have been privy with what happened at my highschool.. Catholic HS's have got to be the worst (ironic isn't it?) or at least they are in my area.

For a year the "Men's club" -- the male version of the females' pep club was disbanded. It came back around my junior year. What was funny was you didn't get hazed if you waited to join the next year. I came my junior year and no one was any the wiser

Some have hell week.. well there we had an entire year (or those that participated which seemed to be just about everyone).. People getting their heads and eyebrows shaved... Elephant walking.. It's been awhile but it makes anything that ANY group on my camps does look pretty wimpy.

And the administration just turned a blind eye.. A lot of it occurred in the school halls..

I don't get it either. I've seen stuff like this happen at a ton of parties.

One of my sisters was explaining about how her boyfriend and his brothers all have "nut tricks" that they show off. And apparently lots of guys do this. I don't get it. It's not like I'm going to twist anything in MY downtown area into something called the "Loch Ness Monster" and show everyone.

However, girls aren't nearly as amused by the contents of peoples' pants as boys are, from my experience.
