Randolph - Macon College
I guess this question could probably be answered most easily by a Virginia GreekChatter...
I see that there are two "Randolph-Macon Colleges" in Virginia. One is in Ashland and one is in Lynchburg. Are they two campuses of the same school or are the completely different and, if so, why do they have the same name?
Just curious; thanks!

The one in Lynchburg is all women campus and no greek life
The one in Ashland is normal.
They were founded by same institution, back when colleges weren't coed. Lynchburg decided to stay all women and their students are called "the whores on the hill" in the local newspaper and tv by Jerry Falwell.

Boy, that shook me up! There was a chapter of Alpha Delta Pi at a Randolph Macon College, but I don't know which one - the "normal" one, or the "whores on the hill" one.

Honey, the ADPi chapter is probably at the one in Ashland (or the "normal" one as you said! lol). We have a chapter there, so I know there is a greek system.

Hmm, still not so sure - the chapter was closed because the whole Greek system was abolished.
Now you have me wondering!!

The Alpha Delta Pi chapter I think was at the Lynchburg campus. We had a Pi Phi chapter there at one time if I remember correctly.
I am from Ashland so I grew up right by RMC, greek life is pretty big there since its a smaller school. There are some pretty nice houses on campus.
I think its one "claim to fame" is that the young kid who is like trying to save the world graduated from there (I just have seen him on Oprah a bunch).

I'm guessing they're both private schools? I was looking at the tuition and my eyes almost popped out of my head.

I'm from Lynchburg and know a lot of people who go to RMWC. They had sororities back in the day, but have since abolished them. One of my co-workers dates a girl from RMWC, and he says they still have secret societies on campus. I hadn't heard anything about that until last week.

I checked out the list of ADPi chapters with links to the school's websites, and our chapter WAS at the Lynchburg campus (but it closed back in 1960).
Now I'M the one shaken up - I wonder if when the chapter was there, the women were still considered the "whores on the hill"? That would be unfortunate!

I've personally never heard of them being called the whores on the hill. That is what everyone called the women at Sweet Briar College, but not RMWC.

erm... I've never heard this "whores on the hill" thing. I think that was just a random reference to Jerry Falwell and his craziness.
RMWC girls can be... interesting. Some of them come to W&L for parties occasionally but not to the degree that some of the other women's colleges in the area do.
RMC (co-ed) is fairly similiar to W&L in some ways. They have a big Greek system still.

Yeah it was. Jerry Falwell shakes people up. I heard this from girls I knew from work who went there

What were the tuition figures you saw? When I checked, it looked like it was in the low $20,000s which doesn't seem that outrageous.
