Question Question!!!!

I have proposed this on the LXA and now this thread for the purpose of deleting posts that have not been in use for a long period of time!

I have also posted this on the Moderator Thread asking the same question.

One reason being that the Site is sometimes having problems loading and getting post and responses listed.

I would like some input if you would!

I dont know if this will help or not but will wait and see what is said!!!

OK!!!!!!!!!

It might help, but what would probably help more is if GreekChat was moved to its own dedicated server rather than being on a server with a lot of other websites. If it is already on it's own server, then perhaps more bandwidth can be purchased (or a new server that's capable of handling so much traffic).

Edited to add that yes, I know this costs money, so I know it's not very feasible.

I'd be all for it...especially duplicate threads or threads with no responses. I frequently have trouble getting onto GC, particularly at high traffic hours.

I think that this could be good but it also could be bad. It wouldn't hurt anyone to delete really old threads that nobody reads and that have few or no responses.

However, there are plenty of old threads that are full of useful information, even if they haven't had responses for a long time. I find that greekchat is great not only because I like to read the new messages, but because I can search and find information on topics that may not have been discussed for ages. I might not respond to an old thread that I dig up while searching because I don't have anything to add to it, but that doesn't mean that it didn't answer a question I had or provide me with some kind of useful information. I'm sure that other people do the same thing.

A question I would have also is who would be deciding what threads to delete? I think that this could easily get sticky and it would be a pain for whoever is in charge of it.

Although technically not the same thing, but what about removing GC members who joined 3 years ago but never posted?

I'd love to be able to look at the Members List to see who I might/would like to know, but when the 1st page starts with !, you have a long way to reach credible post-ers. I've had people tell me they joined long ago, never posted and/or never came back.
