More AI questions...

How soon is too soon to try AI? Will a sorority be less receptive to you if you've only been out of college a few months? I know some sororities have rules about this, but would those that don't be less likely to allow a very new graduate?

Like almost everything having to do with AI, it depends.

(I hate saying "It depends" as an answer..it sounds so wishy-washy)

Personally, I wouldn't have an issue with a woman who was fresh out of university who pursued alumnae initiation. Age wouldn't matter to me - what matters is her committment to the organization's ideals.

Best of luck to you, RockChalk!

I have to agree with Sistermadly on the "it depends" matter. Each group is different and handles AI issues differently.

Just to let you know, though, I graduated in 2000. I am not that far removed from college and it worked out for me

I wish you nothing but the best of luck and keep us updated on what your plans are! I hope you find the ladies of GC as informational as I did

Thumbs up

RockChalk,
I would be dissaspointed in you if you do not go ahead right now and go for it!

"Depends" is something I see in TV Ads!

After seeing all of the AI's that have come from GC, I guess that should help in your decision!

GO GO GO for it! De Sooner, De Better!

This may or may not answer your question. I am currnelty finishing my undergraduate degree, graduating in May and talking to Alpha Phi about AI for next fall. (2003). This is only because the Greek organizations on my campus still haze and Alpha Phi was not present on my campus and I am in love with their organization. In order to receive the answer that you want would be to e-mail the headquarters of the greek organization and see what they say. BEST OF LUCK in what ever you decide.

Hi RolkChalk!

From my personal experience, I don't think it's too early to look into AI. I myself started inquiring into it a full semester before I graduated. In my case, the org(s) I worked with never seemed to bat an eye about how recently I graduated. With that said, I think it might be helpful to be prepared to answer why you didn't rush as an undergrad and why you want to AI with a particular org.

Best of success to you!

PNAM,

.....Kelly

Aww...thanks, Tom, you're a sweetheart.

I am aiming to return to the US sometime around October after I turn in my dissertation.

Funny enough, we're going to be having our own UK GreekChat gathering soon. Do you remember kittyuk? She was also looking into AI, but she also lives here in England. Kittyuk and UKAXO and I e-mail each other often and the three of us might all be meeting in London for lunch in a couple weeks. Cool! Gotta love GC.

Awww, thanks Tom!

And thank you to everybody else for the advice. After giving it some thought, I've decided I'll wait awhile. I recently got engaged and I want to have my wedding planned before pursuing AI. Both of these are a lifetime commitment, and I wouldn't want to give either less attention than it deserves.
