Need a Mixer Idea Badly

Ok so don't think I'm a terrible person, but we're supposed to have a mixer with with a sorority known for...well...for not passing up that second helping of mashed potatoes, if you know what I mean. What's a good mixer idea that will keep them wearing a respectable amount of clothes? They really want to do a mixer, and suggested your typical Anything But Clothes, Graffiti, or Truth or Dare...but those all scare me a ton.

Thanks for the help,

Joe

Its unfortunate that as women, those were their suggestions....but should you really be concerned about this? I mean, really...isn't the point to have fun and not about what people are wearing?

If you want to have a safe suggestion--maybe try a "nut and bolt" mixer. You buy sets of different nuts and bolts, the women pick nuts and the men bolts and they have to find their match by circulating the party. Or celebrate the Super Bowl by having people dress in football uniforms? Or for valentines, have a prom mixer where people come dressed for prom? Good luck!

If someone wants to dress scandalous it doesn't matter what theme is used. I second the idea of a Super Bowl party or something similar. We used to play sloshball (softball, keg at 2nd base) because it was a cheap and fun exchange. There's also broomball, ice hockey with brooms and no skates.

I think he'd be all excited those suggestions if the sorority was made up of Paris Hilton clones, apparently they are not. Personally, I think a good theme for this particular group would be Federal Express - the guys line up according to "package" size. Turnabout is fair play.

I don't think any of those ideas are "unfortunate." The whole idea is to have provocative names for ideas that are really the opposite. Anything But Clothes, for example...you come dressed in a ream of paper or something. The idea is to make an outfit. It doesn't mean come nude. Same with graffiti. You wear a giant t shirt.

I am guesing by his post that the culture at his school with those themes is that sometimes clothes come off, and he made it sound like that was what the women were interested in. Assumption on my part.

Graffiti mixers were always my favorite, although we usually ended up doused in beer by the end of the night. That FedEx idea--hysterical.

Celebrity couples, food fight, slip n slide, Chuck E Cheese, bowling, scavenger hunt...all can be done with the appropriate body parts sufficiently covered.

We usually have our mixers on Wednesday nights. Some theme ideas are: Heaven and Hell, Jock Jams, Anything-but-clothes, Animal House, Business Ho's and CEO's, Flip Cup and Pong, Highlighter.

A lot of these have provocative names, but that doesn't mean that you're showing everything off. We're pretty much at mixers to have a good time with another fraternity and get to know them.

handcuff mixers (presidents pick names out of hats and "handcuff" them together for the night, only works if groups have same number, a flip on this is the group with bigger numbers lets people trade off, ie a sister can jump in on another sisters pair and that sister can bump someone else)

Bowling and skating rinks are always good because of the activity

Red light/green light

Wear red if you're taken, green if available and yellow if complicated.

Mixers we did that were a lot of fun were:
1. A black and white affair-semi formal dress only black and white were allowed
2. Toga party, lots of boxed wine and we all voted on who made the best toga and they got a bottle of nicer wine
3. Beer Olympics-made teams and played cards, beer pong tournament, flip cup teams... i made awards for people and medals of honor with the fake chocolate stuff
4. 70's party, dressed in retro and mostly 70's music
5. Sports Night-dress in jersey's, or other sports wear, played sports-themed games

Beer Olympics are awesome! I have been to a Black and White party, it was very cool, everyone smoked cigars and listened to Sinatra all night. Toga parties always go well too. A personal fav is camo parties. Also 80's parties seem to be really popular, and you can listen to some classic 80's music

Thumbs up Idea!

We had the same issue, but our "concerns" centered around a fraternity whose members had a tendency to get a little frisky...

Our social chairs got together and planned out a $5 formal- simple rule being that no one spends over five bucks on their entire formal outfit. It was a blast, and everyone stayed clothed.

something we did (and sorry if somebody already suggested it) was a "Stoplight social" where colors represented availability.

red = taken (in a relationship)
yellow = its complicated
green = single

it works and the nature of the colors keeps the dress code fairly...conservative. like was mentioned before people will find a way to dress raunchy if they want to...you simply cant help that.

anyway good luck
