Post Fall Rush 2001

Hello everyone!

I posted this as a way for all of us to share our fall rush expereinces. I don't start until Sept. 7, but I know that others are starting soon and I would love to hear from all of you as you go through recruitment. Tell us what you did, what you wore (and how panhel described what you should wear), how you feel, what you talked about, and things like that (basically EVERYTHING!! ). . . I am so excited to live through you guys until it's my turn!!!!!! Good luck everyone!

Linda

I went through rush at Arizona State in Fall '99. There were five days. The rush staff and Rho Chis gave us a fashion show to show us appropriate things to wear. The first round (which lasted 2 days) was casual--shorts, a skirt, or skort were good. The 2nd round was a step up--I wore a cute sundress since it's hot in AZ in September. The third round was a little more dressy--maybe an ensemble you would wear to a club, but NOT too revealing! The last round was the most fancy--most of the rushees wore black dresses (short or long). I wanted to be a little different, so I wore pale blue. The advice I would give to prospective rushees is look your best. Don't look like you rolled out of bed, but you don't over-exagerate and wear your prom dress!

Cool

Since I only talked about rush clothing (and that was covered a lot in "Rush Attire"), I thought I'd post again about other rush stuff.
I really had a great time during ASU rush--it was exciting and new to me. The sororities really work hard to have fun themes. The only part stressful was meeting my Rho Chi at 6:30 AM every morning to fill out my rush card! Experiencing every house is an advantage informal rushees don't have. In response to all the negative things people say about rush, I defend it; it is something you will probably never encounter again.

Hey everyone!

I KNOW that some of you must be starting rush soon and you should know that we are all dying to hear about it. I read through some old posts from last fall and it was so cool how people posted each day of recruitment as they went through it (kinda like a documentary ) We all want to know how it's going for you, so please post your rush experiences here. I am so excited to be rushing and I wish everyone much luck!

Hello all!!

I don't know if everyone is going to do their own individual thread or what, but I thought that either way, I'll be posting here. So here is my Rush info.

Rush starts Sept. 8 (Cal State Fullerton) with Panhellenic Day. Sept. 9 is House Tours Day. Sept. 10 is Pref Night and Sept. 11 is Bid Day. I have actually heard from a couple of people that Rush starts on the 7th, but no one knows what is supposed to be happening that day. I didn't think anything really came before panhel day. Any clue?

School starts August 20 and the panhel people said that they would have rush sign-ups and info sessions at sidewalk booths on campus. (As you can guess, rush here is super laid back!!)

I have a REALLY good friend in Gamma Phi Beta here and I was wondering if we're allowed to hang out and stuff once school starts, just as long as we don't talk about rush, greek life, etc. or are we not supposed to talk at all? I don't want to ask her because I feel kinda silly

I can't wait to actually get some info about rush! Thank you so much to everyone who is sharing their rush experiences. I am so excited!!

Linda

Hi all!

Just a brief update . . . well, school started yesterday and I've been so busy with all the different things that I had to take care of, BUT I finally got to sign up for rush which is cool. I met a couple of the girls who were tabling and they were nice, but they couldn't say what sororities they were in or anything (I guess because they are supposed to be non-biased info givers). So I am all signed up and I should be receiving an info packet in the mail by next week. I CAN'T WAIT FOR RUSH TO START!!!!!

Well good luck girls. I'm anxious to hear how everyone does during rush. Right now I'm getting ready to start rushing girls for 3 weeks (COB). I'm sooo excited to be gaining new sisters (including you guys possibly!). Let us know!
