Yay! Honor Badges...
Hi Gals--
We just had our scholarship banquet and I was awarded the Jennie Burr Honor Badge. I am so excited and honored!
It is an honor badge given to us by a graduate of W&L Law School. His mother was a Pi Phi and was disappointed she never had a daughter that she could share Pi Phi with. When she passed away, he gave us the badge his father gave to his mother as an honor badge going to the Pi Phi who embodies leadership and the future of the fraternity. I am the 3rd person in my chapter to wear Jennie Burr badge. We have another honor badge (can't remember the name!) that goes to the rising senior who exemplifies Pi Phi qualities. Can't remember the name off the top of my head. It's been with our chapter since our founding in 1992. What honor badges do your chapters have, and do any of you wear them?

Congratulations on the honor badge! I'm so proud of you. Our future is in good hands.
Wasn't it Jennie Burr's fondest wish that your chapter be established?

Hey, congratulations! Wear it with pride--we are soo proud of you! What does it look like?
When I was an active, Alabama Gamma had a ring for "Most Active Active" that we gave quarterly to the member who was most deeply involved in campus activities. I won it all 5 quarters! I'd love to know what all the other chapters do for honor jewelry.

Our chapter has... two rings and a bracelet, but I forget what they are called. The seniors vote on who recieves them. They go to Outstanding Pledge, Sophomore and Junior. I think I will inquire as to where Chapter got them, as I have never thought about it before.

As a collegiate, we had two honor badges. One had a ruby in the tip, and was given to the person with the most improved grades. You got to wear it for the quarter and then it was passed on. The other had a diamond in the tip and was the 'brides pin'... you wore it for your wedding (most people wore it on their undergarments but a few actually put in on their gown). Both were bequeathed to the chapter from alumnae who passed away.
Incidentally that is one of the three things that are supposed to happen to your badge when you pass away. (going on sale on Ebay is NOT one of them). You badge is either buried with you, returned to HQ or bequeathed to another Pi Phi, or Pi Phi chapter.
Sort of having alumnae will you their badge, individuals may purchase badges to be used as honor badges, or dangles may be used.

We used to have an all diamond badge to be given to pledge with the highest GPA. (Saddly, my Lil Sis misplaced it, and now I think it's just a single pearl one.) We also celebrate the best pledge. No badge for them, but they are allowed to drink out of the Loving Cup after initiation.
I'm thinking that we have a bunch of really old badges that alums have given to us. We were going to display them. As of yet nothing has happened, but hopefully we'll be able to show them off proudly soon!
