discouraged
Before I say anything else, I want to say that I abslutely I love my sisters.
I joined about 3 weeks ago, and I'm service chair for my pledge class. I had done some research and planning for some fundraisers that would cost less than $50 all together. Most of them wouldn't cost anything. They take some creativity and some effort, but not a whole lot, and we are a service sorority. We even have other organizations willing to help us since we're really small. These are things that involve the campus, get our name out. The rest of the pledges liked my idea when I talked to each of them before our meeting, seemed to in the meeting, and then I got interrupted alot and was told to think smaller, and telling us to do things like bake sales, car washes, and service projects that take little or no contact with people. Things that everyone does and take no creativity and minimal effort. I'm nowhere near as excited as I was even last week, and I'm dreading the stuff we're doing. The pledges had been excited about all my ideas and now they won't speak up and say they like anything unless she suggests it first. I'm not quitting, I'm just frustrated and discouraged. I not paying to be a part of an organization where I feel horrible and attacked after meetings. Help! Encouragement or ideas on how to deal with difficult people and stay motivated? Thanks for letting me vent.
