Rho Chi Revealing
I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas for the Rho Chi revealing on Bid Day. I am a Rho Chi for our Fall Recruitment this year and we are in need of a cute idea for when we reveal our letters to the potential members. All the revealings in the past have been pretty lame. We wanted to have something this year that the girls will remember.
Any ideas are greatly apprecaited!
Thanks!!

My freshman year, the Rho Chis did their revelation by painting their signature color on the bottom of their shoes. They read this poem about how their sorority was so special to them it reached to the bottom of their "soles" then they lifted up their feet. It was neat, but it all happened so fast that it rather confusing to the new members as to what had happened.

I'm not sure if this is considered cheesy or not, but this is how my school does it. All of the Rho Chi's wear an easy to pull off shirt over their letters. All of the NMs stand in a huge circle, and starting alphabetically we all sing the "Let me see you get down!" song. For expample for Kappa Alpha Theta it would go "Hey Thetas?" and the new members who just received their bids were reply if they were Theta "Hey what?" and so on. I'm sure everyone knows that song. During the part where everyone is "supposed to get down" the Rho Chis of that particular sorority runs into the circle of NMs and take of their shirts revealing their letters. I liked this idea because it shows all NMs where each Rho Chi belongs easily plus it allows the NM some pride by yelling for her new house.

When I went through rush last year, there were about 28 Rho Chi groups and only 12 houses on campus. It is required that there be at least 1 from every house - but most houses have 2, 3, or more

At Southeast, our Rho Chis wear their PX shirts with two sets of block letters underneath. I can't remember the exact setup (didn't see it last year, as I was waiting in the park for the NMs to run down the hill to us!), but I know it ends up this way: they all line up and someone counts to three and they take their PX shirts off to reveal the block letters underneath. Thing is, they are someone else's letters, but the NMs don't know this. All the PXs run to the girls with the same letters on and sream, cry, take-down hug, jump up and down, etc. The NMs in the audience (this is held in the auditorium where bids are handed out, BTW) are left looking around like, "sheesh, I had that wrong!", since everyone is always SURE they know what Chapter their PX is from. After a few minutes of this insanity, they count to three again and they take off their shirt to reveal the correct letters and do the hug thing for REAL! Then they announce that it is time to go to the field to meet their new sisters. If anyone is curious about the details of this operation, email me and I can send you the email address of one of my sisters who is a two-time PX who knows the procedure a bit better.

We have each rho chi wear a button down shirt over their chapter's bid day shirt and then the panhel advisor asks the rushees "What sorority is so and so in?" and they all yell out what they think. Then the PX takes off her top shirt to reveal her sorority. We do this BEFORE the girls open up their bids. They had most of us figured out last year. I think they had met boys who told them which sororities we were in...

We had around 20 groups, and I think most houses had 3 to 4 Rho Chi's.
Good luck during rush GiantsChic!

I guess our Rho Chi revealing is similar to everyone else's stories. At my campus, all the PNMs meet in the ballroom to receive their bids. After the girls get their bids, the Rho Chis go into another room and reclaim their block letter sweatshirts that they had to give up during the deaffiliation ceremony. They tie them around their waist with the letters still concealed, rejoin their group, and then the Rho Chis take the New Members out to the park for Bid Presentation. The girls go up to a microphone and say "Hi, I' Nancy New Member and I'm proud to be a sister of ABC Sorority!" and then a bunch of girls run out and hug her. After all the New Members go, the Rho Chis get their turn and they pretty much get tackled.

When I rushed the rho chi's announced what girls were in what sorority and then they ended by announcing the rho chis were welcome back home then panhellenic went home. Panhellenic is to be kept secret also. Hopefully they will be more creative this yr. My house had tons of rho chis when I rushed, this yr we only have 2.Panhellenic changed the rules where only seniors or recent graduates could be rho chis this yr. My house doesn't have room for as many girls and we are smaller so it is good that we don't have a lot of rho chis.

Our Rho Chi and J-Board revealing were simple. The night before bid day, we wrote down what we thought they were. The next day, we just met w/ our group before we went over to the student union to get our bids. They were putting it off forever and we couldn't wait. They told us how much fun rush was, but how excited they were to get to become reaffiliated because imagine not being able to talk to your best friends for months, etc. and one of them even started crying. They each had like 4 layers of block letters on under a sweater. The thing was, none of the dorms are air conditioned and our entire rush fell during an awful heat wave. Under all those layers they were dying! So instead of pulling them all off slowly, they pretty much took 'em all off in one bunch. Oh well! I hadn't guessed any of them right!

Before we got our bids, our Rho Chis all stood in front of all the PNM's and they sang part of each sororities song. And, the girls in that chapter would all take off their Rho Chi Shirts and jump forward. Then, they would go onto the next chapters song.
It was pretty cute.

Yeah...I've been a Rho Chi for two years....and the revealing is really as exciting as getting your bid...I know I am older in my sorority now...I joined in fall'97 but during that revealing and rho chi time it really makes you think about why you chose your sorority and really makes you cherish your sorority more! I really loved being a Rho Chi....and my fellow Rhi Chi's got real close to the point when people began to say stuff about how all of us of different letters could get along....just goes to show that we are sisters, and really aren't that different.
We just take each new members in and announce the sorority that they are now a member of and then each Rho Chi takes off their PX shirt and reveals their sorority...It is really funny because for the past two years nobody gets the right sorority for alot of us....I guess that shows that you can't go by those stupid stereotypes!!!
