If you could tell someone "thank you"...

who would it be? This is opposite of the "If you could tell someone off" thread.

My great aunt--for introducing my parents to each other.

My mom--for loving me despite not getting that degree just yet.

My sisters and brother--for reminding me that I was just 'an accident'...but it made me stronger and more opinionated.

Madame Isaacs--my French teacher in high school--for believing in me when no one else did.

Mr. Plourde--who made me appreciate the gift of song.

Amy Rose--my sister-mom--who introduced me to the family I came to know as Alpha Gamma Delta.

Pinky--because he taught me all about second chances.

My mom - for being the strong woman that she is and for loving me so much when she shouldn't have

My high school dance team coach - for giving me discipline

My best friend Angie - for being there through thick and thin

Dr. Simmons (my feminist political thought prof) - for being so kind and patient and always believing in me, even after I made the comment "Well, I'm sure that Winston Churchill was famous and swell and all....."

The VP-Membership that trained me - for making me understand just what is so great about being a Sigma Xi KD

This is a good topic, for me its a reflection one because my Grandpa died on Saturday so it has made me think of what I hold dear to my heart. First of all my grandpa was a great grandfather. He did the best he could of supporting and raising a family. He was 87 years old when he died and had seen a lot, some good, some bad. In the bad times (he got 3rd degree burns on his legs and couldn't walk for a year), he had the faith and support of his family. So I would say thank you to him for raising and supporting a family the best he could. Also for rasing a wonderful daughter (my mom). My grandparents were married for almost 60 years, its takes a lot of love, dedication, faith, support, and patience for a marriage to last that long. My grandma stuck by him through the good time and the bad. She was there day in and day out by his side even in the sick times in the hospital. I respect her tremedously for that. That is what love is.......

ADPiAlly,
I'm sure your grandfather would have been overwhelmed with pride and love for you. Thank you for posting such a beautiful tribute to him.
My prayers are with you and your family at this time.

My sisters Lori/Kelli/Kathi/Kristi- For being awesome big sisters when I was wee little and saving my butt many-o-times after I grew up a little

All my neices & nephews- Just showing me to take one day at a time and whipping me in shape to be a pretty cool role model.

Mr.Phillips & Dr.Robison - Being such harsh instructors to get me to practice and realize my talent.

Papa Brunicardi- My surrogant grandpa, thanks for making me appriciate what I have now and take care of what I have.

My mom-For softening me up and always being there for me.

My dad-For toughing me up and encouraging me to face my fears.

My 8th grade teacher-Had she not told me that I was SMART, I probably would not be this far in my acedemic career. I needed that encouragement.

My good friend "Jane"-Possibly one of the most true friends I have ever had in my life and probably ever will. She's been there for me when no other "friends" has.

Ms. N-For telling me that I had talent in the artistic field.

Ms. W-For encouraging me to overcome my obstacles and not to use crutches.

I'd love to thank the guy in the Frankfurt airport who helped me out when my luggage got lost. This was almost five years ago, but I will never forget it--I was by myself in Germany and I didn't speak the language, and the dry air on the plane had turned my contacts to slimey glue so I couldn't see. To make things even better, my luggage wasn't on the carousel at the baggage claim and I had no idea what to do. Then a random German guy about my age came up to me seeing that I was upset and offered to help...he took me to the office and helped me file a missing luggage report, and helped me locate the people who were picking me up so I could tell them what was going on. This guy was a lifesaver (and he wasn't bad-looking, either! ). The trouble is, when I had gotten everything sorted out, I turned around to thank him and he was just gone, and I never saw him again. All I know is his name was Christophe, but I'm still really grateful after all this time.

My husband, for always being there for me and for lending me his strength when I had none.

My mother, for believing in me.

My grandfathers, for being among the few men in their generation who believed that women, I in particular, could succeed in science and engineering.

My sorority sisters, especially two of them to whom I'm particularly close, for being there and for inspiring me never to give up.

My two favorite teachers from high school (one math and CS, one science), for holding me to high standards and helping me achieve them.

We should all take note and tell the ones we love how much we love them and more often.
I'm sorry for your loss!
