I sincerely hope that legacies today realize that the sisters wouldn't extend a bid unless they truly like the girls themselves.
Although it used to be that all legacies were offered a bid, regardless of whether the sisters wanted them or not, this practice is pretty much extinct. In most houses that I'm aware of, legacies are still given special consideration, however, they are only offered bids if the sisters feel that the girls will be assets to the chapter. I believe that this process works better for both the legacies and the sorority.
