funniest moment pledging

Hey yall,

What was your funniest moment pleging?

Mine was when the big bruhs pulled a fake crossing on us and one of my sands(the biggest one on line with us)started cryin' like a beech! Yall shoulda seen this boy's face!!!

why does it seem like that "part" was always the funniest, months, weeks, years LATER?
But during that chit, wasn't nothing nice!

One of my most funniest moments was when my BS got into us when the BSs said I had rolled my eyes at all the BSs. Actually, I really hadn't done it.

The BS who accused me and I went back and forth. I was bold, but BS won!

Mind you this was in the beginning. I had much attitude.

To make a LONG story short, after she "whipped" us into shape, with our assignments, lectures, etc), that attitude was out the door and then that AKAtude came on in. My LSs were upset, but now, we can ROTFLOAO at how crazy I was/am and the NERVE I had.

I'll recount a couple of very funny moments:

My 2 ls and I were walking 'in line' to a BS apt for a session. We reached an incline in the pavement my ace went down on her butt, I fell to my knees and my tail had this look like 'what happened?!'. None of us were hurt but it was funny that the line just collapsed like that.

Another funny moment is when we were outside one of the dorms waiting for our BS and practicing some of our songs and chants. We were standing in line and whispering softly. We found out a few hours later that a student told the student monitor in the building that there were 3 people outside praying! Since we wore the traditional 'flying nun' hats, I guess it appeared that way to those who are ignorant of the process. (BTW, the school was a PWI)

DISCLAIMER: This was back in 1986 and things were done a little differently then.

The week after I crossed I visited some friends that live about two hours away. We hung out at the club on Friday till the wee hours of the morning. We got up early Saturday morning, put on sweats and tee-shirts then dashed to Mac Donalds for breakfast. I had on my tee shirt with para.
This guy comes up to me while in MacDonalds and says do you know where ...... is. I was really sleepy, tired and drunk and said "Is that in Raleigh or Charlotte."

The guy looked at me until finally I realized what he was asking.

My friends, a married couple, he is a Kappa and she a Delta, were on the floor laughing their asses off

. I was so embarassed. They still talk about that trip to this day.

I feel you AKA2D--the hsit was never funny during!!

My moment was probably when I and my 2 line brothers were flushed out of a student dorm by some visiting bruhs who got smart and pulled the fire alarm when they couldn't find us. Of course, we the very last ones out, but da_n did we come out to a memorable reception!

The night I crossed was the funniest moment because when it was over with we didn't know it was over with. All of a sudden the blindfolds were taken off and my LBs and I saw that we had on these A Phi A shirts and we quickly tried to rip them off of us because we thought it was another trick they played on us. It was a classic moment if you could have seen our faces. The Big Brothers immediately told us that we were finished and a great sigh of relief was all that could be heard from me.

OK -- my big sisters had told us not to go into the student union. Of course big bad me, I went through there on my way to class anyway. I got hemmed up by 2 Alphas, 2 Kappas, and a Que. One grabbed me and another grabbed my ivy, but I was not letting go! As you all know, ivy is a very strong vine. My hands were cut up because I would not let go. When it was all over, the alphas had my ivy and there were leaves all over the floor. The extra catch was that I was already living in the AKA house (a long, but short story) and the guys all knew this so they made out a list of demands for my kidnapped Ivy and would not let me go until I agreed to the demands. But they were not giving the Ivy up until I came back with the items on the list. I sat in the finance building all day wondering how i was going to go home that night with no ivy. finally, i broke down and called my big sister whose room was in the same foyer as mine and she went to the alpha house to get it for me. i thought i was off the hook until 3 am that morning when that same big sister called me with a list of demands of her own. At the time I was straight hating everybody, but now when I look back it is soooo funny. In my next post I'll tell a funny story about a line I pledged...

Ok -- part II
After I graduated I served as an assistant grad advisor, of course I was still sorta young so I hung with the undergrads a little. One night we got all of the ivies together and took them to this place on campus known as the Oak Grove. Its very desolate and dark. It was late and we had to use our car headlights for light. We blindfolded the girls and a couple of us got in our cars and left. I turned my car off and stayed behind with a couple other sorors. The girls were all sniveling trying to cry and everything. I thought it was funny at first. Then they started praying and I thought I was seeing stuff and I got scared and started tearing up too like my black azz was on line...That particular line has never let me live that down to this day and its been over 5 years ago. Its funny to me now -- well I guess you had to be there.

Since I was a SOLO, I kind of missed out on all those interesting BONDING (

) experiences with LS's.. But I do remember a few funny moments...

First one - My BS's had taken me to the woods one night. And when we were on the way back and my one BS told me start reciting some piece of info and as I was saying it, I stuttered or something and they made me get out the car and run beside the car!!! And while I was running, I had to keep saying the piece of info..and to make things worse, my BS kept trying to poke me with the WOOD as I was running!

Another moment was when I was at the bruh's spot, and my Que sands, who is also a Solo was having set. So our audience of BS's and BB's wanted to be entertained... So me and my sands were dancing together... so the BB's told him to get behind me and freak me. So he's doing that, and they tell him to put one leg up, so he's doing that, freakin me.. And then they told him to put BOTH legs up, and he jumped on my back! And picture this - my sands plays football, probably weighs about 220 lbs. Needless to say, I collapsed on the floor.

*whispering* If I may be so humble just to make a comment on this post. I will immediately delete it if any member of Alpha Phi Alpha or Alpha Kappa Alpha has a grievance with it being here. However, these are the stories I would like to be able to share and look back on and laugh "If" I am selected for membership. I truly feel like my journey will be shortened because of the process, you all are aware of what I am talking about. I do not want to be abused or anything like that but I pray that my memories will be as delightful and deeply rooted as you all.

this is an old a** thread but damn i had to post this .

While i had some moments the funniest s**t i ever seen was on a line that i pledged.

I told the ace to record the ultimate fight for me one week end.
monday came and they gave me the tape. my roommate and i were watching the tape and what do we see our two little Sphinxmen are on the tv. they're throwing the sign and talking much s**t

well that night, after showing the chapt bruhs the tape, before the session starts the bruhs r joking and talking about how this is going to be a short night, just putting thetwo pledgees as ease.

i pop the tape in and they r sitting thinking is some history lesson then they come on the t.v. set the room go deathly silent for about a minute.
i look at the guys their faces just sag and tears start running down one of their face, the other one mouth falls open his eyes pop almost as much then hid head just drops and i can hear him whispering to him self s**t, s**t over and over.

the look on their faces talk about a kodak moment

First of all, Jyhad1906, that has to be one of thee funniest pledge stories I have ever heard. What is the world were they thinking? It always amazes me how dumb folks become while on line? Of course WE were never dumb while we were pledging, though...

It was only two of us (me and my tail) and we had a heck of a time going to class, working, learning info and running errands for what seemed like a neverending number of bigs... We ended up not eating all day (chronic bubble guts) until the wee hours of the morning after session. And what did we eat? All the goodies that we had bought for our bigs and/or White Castle!

I didn't even like the majority of the stuff our bigs requested, but it was like a passive-aggressive way of getting back at them at the time, I think.

Dummies. Which reminds me,...

One of our bigs wanted some Amazin' Fruit candy. Well, we couldn't find it to save our lives! I mean, we ran all over the city looking for that dayum candy! Finally, we got down the the wire and we had to get our behinds to session, so guess what we did. We bought a pack of gummy worms from the gas station and wrote "Amazin' Fruit" on the pack with a Sharpie magic marker.... Needless to say, repercussions ensued!
