best place to buy cheap plane tickets?

Hey there!

It's been so great to be back at school. Well, the classes aren't always great but you know what I mean.

My sisters and I want to plan a weekend trip away. Anybody have tips on where to get good deals on airline tickets? Personally, I like Orbitz. It's what I've always used for spring break and holidays. Plus, I like that I can choose what airline to fly. After some bad run-ins with unhelpful airlines, I've gotten to be pretty picky!

I used www.cheaptickets.com over the summer and I had no complaints. The only thing I've ever heard about the online ticket places is to never ever use PriceLine because you have no choice about which flight you get. You enter in your criteria and your credit card number, and they automatically book you on whichever flight they think fits best.

try www.jetblueairways.com. Don't know if they have the flight you want though.

I used priceline.com for a summer trip and didn't have any complaints.
Priceline.com didn't just book me on the flights after entering credit card #'s.. there is usually an opt-out if you are not satisfied with the flight times, etc. that priceline.com found. Generally, you can decide whether you want a morning flight, afternoon flight, and the computer will search the database for available flights at that time.

I used travelocity a lot last year...along with priceline a few times. My ex and I did a lot of traveling in a few months so between the two I found priceline had the cheapest....but you weren't able to pick your departing and arriving times.
For that reason I liked travelocity!

traveling sister!

Yeah hootie, I feel you.

Generally when I want to be in total control of my trip (well, as much as you can be when you're flying somewhere) I head over to Orbitz. I like how you can choose the airline and the times. And my experience has usually been that they can get the cheapest fares for the least amount of hassle.

Trip.com is pretty good. Airtran.com is good too it just depends on what city you are trying to fly out of.They also have good student discounts called X-fares where you have to fly on standby.

I personally like Hotwire I have found that they have th lowest fare over Orbitz, Travelocity, Cheapfares, and Expedia.
I like hotwire 'cause I can check the option for red-eye flights. They give you a choice of airports and fares, so you can pick the lowest avalible. My only complaint is I've been put on American Airlines a coule of times. I hate AA with a mad passion but a cheap fare is a cheap fare. AA is notorius for leaving /arriving late and just bad attitude. Both of which I experienced on every flight I have taken with them. Other than that, the airlines they put you on are all top airlines. Nothing like National, or Southwest...

The only catch with hotwire is you won't know who your airline carrier is or what time you're leaving until after you make your purchase. So this site is good for people who are more flexible time wise. If you're in a time crunch and need to know the details, Orbitz is good.

BTW,
Hotwire also does car rentals and hotels, niether of which I have used.

Studentuniverse.com is really good for me. They seem to do the most business with US Airways, I don't know if that's a problem for many people. The catch is you have to be a student with a valid student ID card.

I like Hotwire, but I've really gotten my best deals from travel agents lately. Sometimes they can tweak times, prices, etc., that you can't do on the internet.
