PDA Computers..Like or Not Like?
Personal Data Assistant not Personal Display of Affection
If you have one, what do you like/not like about it?
Did your's come with a keyboard or did you buy one separately?
Thanks!

Like! Nothing else has organized me like a PDA has. Whats best about them: When ever you sit in a boring class or meeting, you can draw pictures or play games, and they will think you're serious and taking notes.

Personally I have a schedule that is different every day and usually packed until late evening with activities... I've tried pocket organizers and such... But it's such a chore keeping up with them that I just end up using tons of post it notes...
Seems like a toy to me.... Although these new ones that can get on the internet are some pretty cool toys!

If it's not in my Palm Pilot, it doesn't exist.
If you have a lot of data to enter (new Palm + old address book = ouch!) you can enter it into your computer and hotsync it into your Palm.
Of course, when you're stuck in a boring meeting, you can "take notes" on your Palm (read: play games )

I LOVE my Palm! I especially like being able to downloading periodicals from Avant Go and read them at my leisure. The best program, though, is something called Vindigo. It provides extensive dining, entertainment, and shopping guides for most cities, as well as maps! It has been sooooo useful when out on the town ("Where's the show playing again? What restaurants are near there?")
So in short, yeah, I like my PDA.

PDA . Fatal Error
I have become too reliant on my PDA. I absolutely love it; my calendar and complete address book are on it which is great. My problem is that I don't Hot Sync it as often as I should. This weekend, I turned on my PDA to enter a new appointment, and I had a fatal error pop up on the screen. I lost everything since the last time I had Hot Sync'd it (which was July 28).
Needless to say (after muttering a few choice words) - I re-entered everything that I could remember, and then I Hot Sync'd it right away.

Okay, since I have no idea what you are talking about, I assume mean copying your files, lol.
Best Buys has a CD for about $13 on learning the PDA..maybe I'll buy one before I spend 100's for the real thing.
Thanks!

Handspring Visor Edge is my life
Used to have a Palm IIIxe and then a Palm VIIx.
It is my lifeline! I would not be half as organized without it as I have the world's worst memory. I keep everything on it. The thing about Handspring is that its alomst like a convertible. Its not only a PDA but I can also change the "springboard module" and it becomes an MP3 player and a PHONE! I also had a wireless web device for a while but the monthly payments were expensive. It's smaller than a laptop and so much more versatile.
I can cross reference names, appointments, phone numbers. I love being able to set alarms so I don't miss anything.
I have the grafitti kind and I do not mind it. I have hand PDAs for years so I am ultra quick on the graf, even on the lesser known characters.
AGDLynn, I suggest you NOT by the CD and rather try www.epinions.com or www.cnet.com to find out more info- for free.
Hey RedRoseSAI, I am glad I am not the only one using Avantgo, I am always telling my frineds who have just gotten PDAs how great the prgram is. Its so convenient reading the Boston Globe, Rolling Stone and Wired all in one place.
I am thinking about a Treo 270, but its really expensive. Maybe some day.

yes!
i just bought a bargain-basement palm, and the features are very bare, but i LOVE it! handwriting recofnition for quick notes, the calendar, address book and a few games are really all i need - my cell phone is my secondary organizer (with internet access).
i have a very difficult schedule, and this PDA is the ONLY thing that's keeping me sane right now. the graphical representation and other views of daily/weekly schedule are the best feature, in my opinion.
I am glad i caught best buy's clearance sale, i got a good price on a decent palm m-series, plus it was on open box buy AND i have a mail in rebate.
i plan on using this for a "tester" before i decide to spend hundreds of dollars on one.
