random question for chi o's

hey sorry to invade your boards, but i just wanted to see if anyone on here was in the know -- is it true that once chi omega pulls a charter from a university chapter, they will never reactivate that chapter?

long story, but i just wondered if anyone knew. hope ya'll have a great weekend!

While I don't know for sure if IN Chi Omega a chapter has ever been reinstated, I do know that in our bi-laws a chapter may be reinstated after carefull consideration between the alumni of that chapter, the National Headquarters and the college. This generally isn't something that happens within a few years of a chapters closing...we're talking a while later. Although I suppose it CAN happen.

There has been at least one chapter reinstated in Chi Omega....I know because I'm in a chapter that was reinstated. All sororities were banned at my campus due to extreme problems between non-sorority women and sorority women from at least 1920 thru the dissolution of the sororities in 1944. A few were brought back after Title IX was passed, but were not recognised until the very late 80's and my chapter was finally reinstated in 1991.

The grapevine says that XO will be coming back to Georgia Southern after an absence of about 4 years!

Thank you Buttrfly and Carnation for that information. Like I said, I know of some chapters being reinstated but it all depends on the circumstances that were involved with their dissapation to begin with.

And generally its after a number of years...

I didn't even know the chapter at Georgia Southern had thier charter taken...anyone know the scoop and when it happened? Thanks!

This is totally off the subject, but I want to know where the saying "What do you get when you cross an Alpha Omicron Pi with a Sigma Phi Epsilon?" came from. How does that equal a Chi-O?
It is nothing personal. I am an AOII and one of my best friends is a Chi-O.

My mom was an AOTT and my father was a Sig Ep...so hense ME...a Chi Omega.

Hmm--somebody told me 4. Anyway, I'm told that the lot is being cleared in preparation for building a house and that the talk all around the Greek community there is that Chi O is coming back. Ga Southern had huge rush numbers this fall!

It dissolved in Spring 1993. As far as I know they (Chi Omega) has not decided to reinstate the chapter.
