9-11: Are You Doing Anything Special

Sorors and Sisterfriends...

Are you planning on doing anything special tomorrow. I really hadn't planned on it, but as the day draws closer, I'm feeling really sentimental about the whole thing. I'm also starting to feel a little anxiety about the day...a little freaked out about the possibilities of another disaster.

Will you....?

Wear red, white & blue?
Attend a special service/program/vigil?
Go to work....Or take the day off?
Wear a commenorative pin?
Talk w/ you children about the day?
Say a special prayer?
Fast?

I plan on wearing something patriotic...either a shirt or pin and will go to work, but will attend a candlelight vigil at my church tomorrow evening. I will also say a special prayer for our country..and world..because we truly need a touch from the Lord.

I'm glad that you brought this up. I wanted to but couldn't think of the most appropriate way to do so.

On my job we're having a potluck, and a REFLECTIONS of the tragedy brought upon the country. Also my boss has suggested that everyone do the red, white, and blue thing.

Does anyone fear tomorrow....I'm referring to codeorange How do you feel?

I do not know if this is a district thing, but we (our students and faculty) are to wear red, white, or blue shirts.

I am going to light a candle and let it burn all day (representing the people who died). It truly doesn't feel like it was a year ago.

I'm going to....

say a prayer, call my friend who walked with me from manhattan to bay ridge last year, & consume myself with work...i saw where someone was saying they weren't going to watch tv or listen to the radio...i'm going to do the same...at my job they are planning on setting up a tv, so that we can watch the memorial...but, i just can't do that...God knows that i don't want to nor will I ever forget what happened & how awful it was for so many people to die like that...but, i can't bear to relive it either...and, they will no doubt play & re-play the footage until i scream like some insane person.

I am going to a vigil, of sorts. It's actually for work, but it's with the volunteers, no coworkers. I am not watching TV, either. I had my friend turn off the Terror Alert tonight, too. At first, I thought I would watch all kinds of shows. But right now, the last thing I need is to be depressed, and I was messed up over this last year. Even as I pray for the families and friends of those lost in the tragedy, I'm going to rejoice that there ARE survivors! I'm going to stay prayed up. I can't lie, I got scared today, real bad. I'm definitely staying prayed up.

God Bless.

Unhappy

Since I work only 2 blocks away from Ground Zero, I will be able to first-hand witness some of the vigils that are taking place today. We also have television sets inside our cafeteria and some of our conference rooms. There will be no depositions being held, no interviewing, no court reporters today as well. I still have vivid memories of what happened a year ago as if it took place two days ago.

It's one thing to see things through the eyes of television, but to being upclose and personal magnifies the significance of things.

I've been watching the broadcast from Ground Zero and the Pentagon since 8 this morning. The impact of what happened is just as overwhelming today as it was this time last year. To put the faces with all the names of those who perished makes the impact even greater. America the Beautiful, we have to accept it with all it's flaws, but you know what? I wouldn't trade this country for anything in the world. Take a few minutes of your time today and reflect.

God Bless Us All
God Bless America

I went to a vigil at my school and prayed for the families of those lost. Today is my birtday and I am going to hold my head high and embrace this day as the celebration my parents intended. Though many people are still mourning, I had to move forward and not dwell on the crisis. I had a hard time dealing with 9/11 because my city was on such a high alert and I was truly afraid. In the past if I ever heard 9/11 I would smile and say, "That's my birtday!" I am back to feeling good about my 9/11. People still apologize when they see my ID, but I decided today that I would pray for those lost and put on my best dress and have fun.

What I did for 9/11

I refused to watch TV. For the whole day, I did not watch anything on the screen b/c most of the stations suspended regular programming and showed the towers collasping all day long(I heard that on Tom Joyner on the way to school). So me and hubby watched The Simpsons Complete First and Second Seasons on DVD as well as a lot of other movies once we got home.
