Stay out of my stuff!

I came home today to find my roomie on my computer. She was logged into my yahoo account and told me I had unread messages. Is there a way to create a password on my computer so that she can't get into my stuff and vice versa?

At the very least, you can log out of yahoo when you leave your computer so that you have to enter your password to get back in the next time you want to check your email. Also make sure that your yahoo messenger doesn't log you in automatically.

I'm not sure how to create a computer password but I'm pretty sure it can be done. Play around with your control panel and maybe you'll figure it out, or I'm sure someone else here can tell you how to do it.

Did you tell your roommate that checking your email is completely inappropriate? Why on earth would anybody think that it's okay to do that???

stay the hell out of my biznass

1. you can log out of your account and uncheck the "remember this password" box.

If you use MSN:
2. If you haven't already downloaded MSN Internet Explorer 7, it has password-protected/user thingy.

If you have Windows:
3. Open you're control panel by clicking START, then Settings, control panel. or click on MY COMPUTER, then control panel.
it should have a USERS menu item. may be at the bottom.
it'll guide you through the anti-roomate process.
creating a user ID for you computer would allow her access to your pc, minus entry into your stuff.

three2tango, you can make your screensaver password protected so that only you can use your computer and she can't use it while you are gone.

Here's how to try it (If you use a PC running Windows):

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel

Double-click Display > Click the Screensaver tab > Set a screensaver (if you don't already have one) > check the box next to "On resume, password protect" and Click the OK button at the bottom of the dialog box.

If I am correct, the computer will automatically use the password you use to logon to Windows

I hope this helps!
