Getting together with other locals

Hey GUys,

(second post back to back! whoo hoo!)

I need help. I was talking with the other local sorority on campus-Delta Psi Delta ( i hope i spelled Psi right!! eeek!) and we think it would be a really great idea to have a mixer with them.

We were both helped by Sigma Pi to found and we are both locals. I think its also a great idea to help foster stronger Greek relations that are not just through fraternities.

The only problem is that my sorority gets really catty when we try to organize mixers with sororities they think it wont work and become a bit defensive.

I just want to know how i should approach this and what you think??

Thanks!

I think maybe the reason they get "catty" or "defensive" might be because they are not used to having mixers with other sororities?

On my first campus, all the sororities did not just have mixers with the fraternities, but with all the other sororities as well and it's been like that for a very long time. We made it a point to have at least one mixer with each other sorority and fraternity per semester. (It is a relatively small greek school). Try something small at first.. like a "Game Night" or Pool Tournament on campus (if your campus has the facilities). Or just go to a campus event together with the other group, like "tail-gating" before a football game.

I hope this helped!
