Homecomming theme for float

OK, so our theme for homecomming is "Sweet home, Northeastern" like Sweet home Alabama, and its a hippie 70s theme (dont ask me how t hat correlates, bc I dont know). The AOPis and the Phi Sigs are getting together to do our homecomming float for the parade, and we had a REALLY good Idea, a Scooby Doo theme, and like the mistery machine or whatever, but we just found out htat TWO other groups are doing that, so we dont want to do that. Anybody got any good hippie 70's ideas that mght work???

Here's some other 70s ideas for you, don't know about the hippie thing though :

The Brady Bunch

The Partridge Family (no Mystery Machine, but there's always the tour school bus!)

The Jetsons

Well, going with the "sweet home" theme you could do something along the lines of Leonard Skynard. Maybe you could rent the documentary thing, listen to the song and get some ideas that way.

On a side note... I absolutely love the Jetsons - my fav cartoon of all time

Ok, seriously, is A&M the only school in the country that DOESN'T do this homecoming thing?

IFC brought up the idea of having a parade at the end of Greek Week at the president's retreat and i almost spit my diet coke all over the president of Beta. I almost was tempted to ask if these guys had ever seen Animal House. Any Aggies out there will understand why i think this is a horrible idea.

I was wondering the same thing...Homecoming rocks.

AggieSigmaNu361 maybe instead of a parade you could do like we do here at Nebraska and have lawn displays. Same idea as a float, but somewhat easier b/c it doesn't have to move. Maybe though I'm missing the point completely and there is some other reason for not having Homecoming festivities.

Cool

YEARS ago when I was at the Pitt, PSU KS, we did our own floats and Lawn Dec. Well they dont do the Lawn Dec. anymore and have to get someone with them to build the Float!

At the cost of things, I know that there are not many Rich Houses about so $$$$ is important!

But if Not for Greeks on Campus, all you would have is horse shit and high school bands!

What is Homecoming for, the Alums and the Parents of High School band members!

If not For My Fraternity, screw them I would not go back!

What is homecoming, a reason to get Alums pumped up and give money to the School!

Hey I am A Gorrila, Oh our Mascot! Go figure in SE Ks! Dont ask me, I have no damn clue!

Our First Float Was the Showboat and it was great ( From Musicals ) We came in 3 rd! I was Pissed But the PKA had the Wizard Of Oz and it was awesome! We got stucked on teh second Place!

House Decoration was Cambell Can Of Cream The Hornets our opponets!

AAAAAHHHHHH The Good Old Days!

Actually, i really like the idea of lawn displays.

My whole thing is that A&M doesn't have homecoming. I guess the reason i think having a Greek Week parade is a bad idea is because i see it turning into an anti-Greek display. There are lots of organizations or groups on campus that i could see actually trying to disrupt the whole thing altogether.
