Help!

My great aunt, who was a PROUD Alpha Xi, passed away a little while back. She left instructions that her sorority stuff go to me because I'm greek (AGD) and would appreciate/know what to do with it.

Included in all of her things were two badges. One is plain and the other is lined with pearls. I was wondering if there was significance in having two.

Also, is it AXD custom to send badges back to your headquarters if they aren't buried? If so, where would I send it? I don't want to be careless and just send it to the address on the website if that is not correct. It is important to me that this is done right, so any help anyone could give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

THANK YOU!!

Your aunt made a wise choice in selecting you to receive these things!! The quills should be returned to HQ if they weren't buried with your aunt. There is no special significance to either one beyond the obvious importance to our sisterhood -- it sounds like it's just one of our plain quills and then a pearled one. The 20-pearled quills aren't made any longer, so that makes them a bit more special, and it's always nice to see a full name and initiation date on the back, which is something the jewelers no longer do. You should send the quills, insured, to Amy Reinhardt at Alpha Xi Delta HQ, 8702 Founders Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268.

We can't thank you enough. And you have my sincerest condolences on the loss of your aunt. Do you know what Alpha Xi Delta chapter she was initiated at?

Thank you so much for the information. I tried to reply last week but my computer locked up and I was in too big a hurry to retype my message!

My (great) aunt was initiated at Henderson State University in Arkansas. I'm not sure of the chapter name... Gamma Omega maybe?? She was a SPUNKY lady -- you'd have been very proud to have her as a sister. She was very sad that I didn't go to a school with an Alpha Xi chapter. She didn't have any kids or grandkids, so she was like a grandmother to me. She loved to talk about recruitment and would have me come over every fall and tell her about every party -- detail by detail.

Again, thank you for the information -- I'll put it to use!

PearlGrrl,
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of a fellow Reddie!! Unfortunately it's not often I hear ANYTHING about Henderson State on here!! Please accept my condolences. If you don't mind saying, what was your great aunt's name? You can PM me if you want. When did she attend HSU?

I think you are correct in saying the chapter there is Gamma Omega. . .I remember that's how we had to answer roll call in Panhellenic (with our chapter names).

Anyway, I just felt the need to respond. Sorry to intrude!!
