Hello! Today was bid day and it went pretty well.
We didn't make quota, but no one was surprised at all because quota was set at 30, and we only had 27 on pref night.
We got 9 wonderful new sisters, plus the 5 new members we already had, which makes a great new member class of 14 (largest pledge class since 1997...kind of scary--I'm the NME!!)... We were not disapointed at all.
This rush was kind of weird anyway... everyone made quota except for us and one of the top houses, who only got 18 girls!!
We really got quality women, too. It felt good to see names on other sororities bid lists that we cut the first night for low grades, among other things. It really says something about us that even though we are the smallest chapter on campus, we do not sell out on our values just to make quota.. And I know we will win out in the end.
Speaking of which.. Christin, you know how Pi Alpha has always had the short end when it comes to housing... Well finally something is being done about it and the university approved a new housing plan that will break ground next spring. They are making a 'Greek Park' where most of the sororities and some fraternities will have a suite. The first level will be giant suites , and there will be 3 levels of dorms on top of them. And the best part of all?? They will be bulldozing Greek Row. I think all the AOII's will throw a party that day.. No offence to anyone else, but we have been wanting a house FOREVER and finally some happy median is being found.
We will be able to move into it Fall 2004. Here is the website if you are interested
