I do want to personally apologize for my behavior in the mentioned forum thread. Although I was being personally attacked, I did act in a way that is not represenative of a KD lady. I think we all need to behave more civil so as not to dishonor the name we all work so hard for.

I too will admit that I get upset when I feel that people are posing as a KD, but then I sit back, take a breath, and relax before I say something. Nasty words really hurt and before I say something mean, I try to think how I would feel if someone said these words to me too. A KD or not, some of the things that were said in the other thread were hurtful and I understand why the girl responded as she did. I totally agree with you guys about her not naming her chapter, that did seem kind of fishy, but I do not believe that anyone should be called names for that. Well, enough rambling on by me, I just wanted to leave you all with one bit of info that came from our own Kappa Delta Creed:

May We each day through love of those within our circle, Learn to know and understand better those without our circle.

I am new to Greekchat and I am a member of the Yahoogroup spoken of previously. When I heard about this situation, I decided to read for myself.

Perhaps the easiest way to deal with this problem in the future is simply to refer the individual back to their chapter, collegiate advisor or collegiate province president and than end the discussion.

I know that ritual and its process are oftentimes confusing. If an individual has questions that they feel their chapter officers and/or new member educator are not answering than they should contact their chapter advisory board. And, as a chapter advisor myself, I am always willing to speak with a new member to assist them in the process.

However, I can certainly understand how the situation occured today and I too am very circumspect when it comes to people asking me about my ritual. It is something that I do not share outside of my sorority and I do not feel comfortable discussing in this type of public forum.

The question asked had nothing to do with rituals. The question was how long do the new girls have to wait before being initiated. Rituals are a very sacred event, and the they were never in question.

I REALLY do not want to continue this discussion, it's been discussed to death.

But if there's an inaccuracy, I have to point it out.

It was never asked how long a new member had to wait before being initiated. You weren't even sure whether or not you were initiated.

You are like the 10th person who has said, "I don't want to keep this going, but..."!! First of all, if you "don't" want to keep it going, use the other thread, this one is for something else. Second, we need to put this behind us. Everybody was confused, and now we are learning from this event. Something like this does not need to happen again, and this thread is to discuss the changes needed. I don't want to upset anybody again, but it seems like I would just have to leave to accomplish that b/c everytime I post something somebody gets mad.

No, I don't want to keep it going.

But if something inaccurate is said, then it should be pointed out. And it was said in this thread, not the other one, hence why I posted it in this thread.

There's no need for you to leave, but if YOU want the discussion to cease, you are just as much at fault for continually replying to things.

I really have not been left with much of a choice. I can't reply to people, or I am accused of "keeping it going". Everytime I post, somebody has something negative to say. WE ALL got out of control, but it seems like I am the only one being found guilty. Its kinda like if you go somewhere where you are not welcome. Nobody is going to tell you to leave, but they will surely let you know they don't like you. I think I am just going to leave this forum. Its obvious that I am not welcome here, and the only way to end all this is for me to leave. Good luck to all my sisters, and hope the best for all of you, honestly. I'm not being sarcastic, I really do.
