When is too late to call?

My brother, his fiancee, and her 1 yr old live with me in my parents house. I like my brother's fiancee, but her family and friends are white trash(no lie-- mom divorced dad--moved back in with ex husband--brought along her bf wh o is an alcoholic). Anyway Liz's friends call at midnight or later. Hello she has a little child. They call on the main phone so it wakes my parents up as well as me!!! Then a mom of one of Liz's friends called at 3 in the morning to see if my brother or Liz knew where her daughter was!!! She was looking for her 14 and 17 yr old. Um you're the mom-- you should know where you kids are. My brother and Liz had been home since a quarter to 12. I've met this lady and she is white trash-- she smokes pot with her kids etc. I swear this lady called more than once--everytime the phone rang my nephew cried!!!!
So when is it too late to call?

My family, roommates, friends, etc... have always made 10 p.m. the rule unless it is an "emergency" of some sort (however, we are pretty lenient on the emergency... ie... needing to borrow clothes for a job interview or something would count). After 10 if it is not an emergency but you want to talk, you must call the person's cell phone so as not to disturb the rest of the house.

As for the missing kids thing, that definitely qualifies as an emergency. Doesn't matter if she is the mom and should know where they are, she didn't... and so, as a mom, it was her responsibility to call people who might know and try and find them.

I agree. 10 is the rule at the parents' place.

When I lived with my parents I was not allowed to have phone calls after 9:30pm. My parents had to get up at 4:45am everyday to go to work at were usually in bed by 10:00pm.

My stepdad was an electrician and rigged a switch up so he could turn the ringers off on all of the phones in our house at the same time. Him and I both had pagers so if we HAD to be reached people would have to page us.
