Pumpkin's coming

caught a preview this afternoon on tv of a new flick called pumpkin that tells the story of an aopi sister who bucks the system to fall in love with a mentally challenged young man. because of this she ends up leaving the house and her "lamb chops" and changing schools to one where "they just eat beans," eek. according to the review, it sounds like another typical presentation of the greek scene with a bit of a moral. the o is omega by the way. pity you can't get a break.

I would hope that the actual Alpha Omicron Pi will not be affiliated or affected by this movie....it seems very close together..and could be easily confused by new girls rushing who wont know this "movie sorority" is really a fake sorority and not to be confused with a real NPC org.
i find it weird that the movie people used Alpha Omega Pi, which is again very similar to AOPi
any thoughts on this?????

Does Alpha Omega Pi even exist? As a sister in Alpha Omicron Pi, I just hope they give sorority women in general a good rep. to keep younger girls interested. The media really has a powerful effect. But if it is (greek life) portrayed in a negative light, I can totally see it affecting our (aopi especially) fall rush, due to the obvious similarities. I don't think a simple movie will change things too too much, but after I check it out I'll have to decide if it was more hurtful or helpful in general. I mean the movie Animal House, still has a lasting impression on greek-life. Yeah its funny as hell to some, but it also causes people to get the wrong ideas as to what being greek is all about. It just makes it easier for non-greeks, or even rushees to make judgements based on merely scenes from a movie. Sad but true.

I remembered reading about this movie about some girls in Alpha Omega Pi. Most the time, the sororities and fraternities in movies are made up, but I found an actual Alpha Omega Pi sorority at SUNY Geneseo.

Being an AOII, I don't like the fact that they use our nickname.
