interested in chi-o!
Hi! I'm going to UW-Madison this fall and I want to join a sorority. I was looking at their student orgs and was interested in their chapter of Chi Omega. Can anyone give me any kind of advice on rushing XO or rushing sororities in general? Are there any chi-o's from UW-Madison on here? I'm excited to start school soon and I can't wait to find out more about the sororities! Hope to hear from you soon, can't wait to chat!

Oh, good luck with rush! I live in Wisconsin and I hear the Madison girls are great.
As for advice? Be yourself! All orgs look for sincerity. And have fun
When do they have rush?

Hi, thanks for your advice! I didn't find any specifics on any sorority websites, but during welcome week activities, there is a recruitment picnic on Saturday, August 31 and recruitment orientation on Thursday, September 5. I'm really looking forward to it!

Hey thanks for telling me. I've always wanted to see what other XO chapters do for recruitment, and I thought about making the trip to Madison to see what it was like.
It's awesome that you are interested in Chi O. In a big school like Madison, it's nice to have a place to belong!
Where are you from?

So you might come to visit Madison? Well then I'll look forward to seeing you I actually live in Beaver Dam, 30-45 minutes away from Madison...depending on how fast you drive! Where do you go to college? By the way, thanks for chatting...it's nice meeting you

board crasher alert!
Hi UWgirl-
Just butting in to say that I wish you the best at UW recruitment, and I also wanted to encourage you to keep an open mind. I have met some of the Kappas from UW (I went to Lawrence University, in Appleton, and took the occasional trip to Madison), and they were charming, hospitable women (I've only met the Kappas, so I can't speak for any of the other groups). I'm sure you'll find the right group for you, be it Chi O or Kappa or any of the other GLO's. Don't forget to post your Recruitment stories!

Hey KappaStarGirl, thanks for replying! I guess from what I read on the net, in first round we get to see a little bit of all the sororities, so I'll look into Kappa too! I suppose you don't know anyone from UW that I could chat w/ do you? Oh...just another completely random question...isn't Amaya from the real world hawaii a kappa too? Anyway, I really want to thank you girls for replying...you're all so nice!

Hey, thanks chioqt!! I really can't wait for recruitment...I actually move into my dorm 2 weeks from today and I think that recruitment shouldn't be too long after that! I was trying to look up Chi-O national's website and http://www.chiomega.org is not working (at least on my computer)...is there a different address?

Re: board crasher alert!
I''m sure KKG has a wonderful chapter at UW and elsewhere. I would hope that the KKG board would be a good place to discuss that.

questions
Hi, I have a few questions about rushing. When visiting the houses during rush, I know that each campus and each individual sorority will be different, but what kind of clothes do you recommend bringing? And by that, I mean, formal wear, skirts, dresses, etc...? Also, I've been reading on here and other websites about recommendations. As a freshman, I don't know anyone or anything abour recruitment or recommendations...will I need to go into recruitment with recommendations or do you think they will hold it against me since I didn't really know any better? If it makes any difference, UW-Madison has 40,000 undergrads and of those, about 10% are greek, and there are 11 sororities on campus. Thanks for the help!

Alright, someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but as far as I know recommendations are used in LARGE greek schools, mainly southern schools, where sorority recruitment is extremely competitive. Dress nice for rush. For example, for the first party round wear khakis and a nice top, for the second round wear maybe a skirt or cute dress, for the third party get a little dressier with a nice classy dress, and for preference usually the PNM's..at least here, wear a black dress or black pants or such. I hope this helps. Just remember to be yourself!!!

Thanks so much for the advice chioqt!!! Now I'll know how much clothes I have to bring for recruitment with me to school...which worries me because I don't pack that well and will probably bring most of my closet with me anyway! But anyway, thanks for the help on the recruitment letter too! I think it's really nice that you guys will reach out to a potential member like me!!!

If you're anything like me, you'll bring you entire closet, your second entire closet, and your whole dresser. I had soo many clothes my freshman year. I took most of them, and wore almost all of them. Just make sure you have clothes that are really versatile for recruitment and such! Good luck
