Has anyone ever entered their names in those sweepstakes boxes??
Well the other day, I did.
I was bored, so I entered my name in a box for a year's membership to Bally's. Funny, since I really do need to tone my behind up a bit, but not necessary at all. haha.
Then I thought "Man, how funny would it be if Aaron won this?"(Aaron is my boyfriend and is well on his way to his 30-year old gut!) So I entered his name as well.
They called him today.
He won.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

We have an annual state fair and those boxes are everywhere. Well one time I decided to enter my grandparents name in one for all new windows for your house, I was like 14. However, I failed to read the fine print. Little did I know that the fine print said by entering the contest you were allowing your long distance phone service to be changed. My grandmother found out when she received a bill. Boy, did I hear it from her!

My friend entered my name once in a Jeep sweepstakes at Target about 7 years ago, when Target was still more of a K-Mart/Wal-Mart type store. I didn't win a Jeep but I did win a $100 gift certificate. I found things to buy but I didn't love Target then like I love it now. I would do some damage with a gift certificate now.

These so-called sweepstakes boxes are also great places for getting your name on some really aggressive timeshare sales list.
First, they send you a certified letter stating you won a prize, but you hafta claim at this timeshare resort persentation. Three hours and four REALLY pushy salesmen later (they firmly believe in NOT taking no for an answer) when you really tell them you're not interested, you find out you win the second prize - a cheap assed trinket that's guaranteed to quit working within 30 days.
Lesson learned.

I learned the same lesson. But I did get 4 free hotel nights in Orlando out of it, along with super discounted tix to Universal and Busch Gardens, so I guess it wasn't so bad.

Yeah, we have a meeting with them tonight.
When they called him, he was like "Well, my girlfriend is the one who signed me up, she only told me limited details"
So they were like "Well, we'd like to extend this offer to her as well"
So.. I don't know what they will say~!!!

Most often. they are just credit card apps.
People often get contracts with the credit card companies and get paid $4 an app or something. They'll buy one new car and negotiate to set up with a mall or soemthing, paying the mall a couple grand for a month of space. THey do this at 10 real high traffic malls and get 50,000 apps in a month and they have more than paid for the car or whatever it is they are raffeling and the rent of the spot. and made about $100,000 profit.
