prefs
This is stolen from both the ADPi and AZD forum. I'm too tired to be creative and think of my own topic.
Where did you all pref?
I preffed at ADPi.

I actualy never went to Pref. I was cut during FR my Spring semester Freshemen year but went back through Informal the following Fall...these things always work out for the best I suppose.

Good question BrownEyedGirl!
Our biggest competition during rush is usually KD so we find that a lot of our girls have preffed there. A close second is ADPi and third is usually Tri-Delta.

At my school a lot of girls pref ZTA, Alpha Phi and Chi-O. Pi Phi is close to being in the top three. We only have seven sororities on our campus and there are 4 very popular sororities. ZTA, Alpha Phi, Chi-O, and Pi Phi. I always find it interesting to see how different chapters are at other universities.

Tri-Sigma and AST seem to get a lot of girls at Pref followed by us and then ASA. All but one of the girls who came to our Pref in Feb joined us for Bid Nite which was exciting for us!! Tri-Sigma and AST definetly give us a lot of competition more so than ASA. With only 4 sororities everyone has a decent idea where they want to go by the time Formal Rush comes along in Feb. Informal in the Fall is pretty much 'decided' before it even starts in a way....

I'm sorry to say that here at Mason, we're not very high on the totem pole of our 6 sororities. Our biggest competition as far as rush goes is probably AXiD cuz they're small too (and new, came here in '97). Otherwise, A-Phi is a big contender for rush because they're so big and they win everything. Chi-O is also very big here (highest GPA). People who go AOPi and Gamma Phi you can usually pick out here, so they usually don't go ZTA because their stereotype is so totally different than ours. But, I am glad to say that we're working very hard for rush this fall, and we actually did better in informal rush than formal this past year and that NM class was awesome, so we should totally kick butt this fall!

P.S. As a PNM, I wanted to rush AXiD and they're actually a lot like ZTA here. Just a side note...

I prefed AGD!! My chapter tends to compete with ADPi for new members (It used to be AGD, but they lost their charter). The fall before I graduated we had a really hard rush, we had to snap bid a majority of our new members. However, when I went back after graduation we came out on top and continued to stay there. Hopefully this rush will be just a great!

In addition to ZTA, I also preffed Phi Mu (loooong story - I didn't want to go, but I kinda had to and I ended up suiciding Zeta. That's not to say that the Phi Mu's at my school are not some of the nicest girls I know.)
As far as who our new members pref, it seems to change every year. The year I rushed, a lot of my pledge sisters had preffed Theta and KD. The year after that, a lot of girls preffed KD, ADPi, and Tri-Delt. This past year, a lot of girls preffed KD and ADPi again, as well as Chi-O. It's always interesting b/c you can see who put on a good rush by how many of our new members preffed a certain sorority. As far as our biggest contenders during rush, I would say ADPi and KD, but Chi-O is definitely picking up steam. ADPi and KD are also our biggest rivals in other Greek events, such as Greek Week and Pep Supper, so ruch is no different. It's probably b/c we're the Big 3 (of the 7 chapters) on our campus.

GEORGE MASON PREF
I chose ZTA over AOPi, APhi and AXD here at Mason. I preffed ZTA, Alpha phi and alpha xi delta, i didn't pref alpha omnicron pi because i thought it would be too tempting to resist for its sheer popularity....We may be small but not for much longer! We've reigned at Mason before, and we'll do it again- starting this rush.... the girls this rush will see what I saw in ZTA last year- SISTERHOOD. Real bonds.... no flakes or phonies or fakes-- just real girls with real friendships, right Mel?

I went to three pref parties, Delta Zeta, Tri-Delt, and ZTA. The odd thing about my Rush experience was that I was convinced that I was going to go Tri-Delt - I already knew a lot of girls in the house. However, the only pref ceremony that I cried at was Zeta's. I am a firm believer in "following my heart," so I decided to suicide Zeta (against my Rho Chi's advice). But, it all turned out great. I was thrilled to get my invitation to join Zeta Tau Alpha.
